One of the more interesting things I have read is that both AS & DISH involve calcification of tissue.

I read sometimes AS moves to other organs like the heart. When that happens, could they be referring to "arterial calcifications???"

Arterial Calcifications - Heart trouble.

Please read the link, and offer an opinion if you so desire.

Not sure why maybe this but with my Dr. he wants me to have an echo cadiogram at least every 2 years. I have had 3 of them so far...and so far so good, but yes I know AS can affect the heart.

Thanks for the info,

Lisa

I have not read the article yet, but can tell you from experience AS can affect the heart in more than one way. Besides calcifying tissue and valves it can also cause problems with the hearts electrical system causing an artery to constrict and close it's self off causing a heart attack. I had this happen in 2003 with a major heart attack when one artery constricted to 99% closed and another to 70%.

Basically the stenosis is the hardening of the aortic valve 'rim', which hardens/calcifies and then is caused to leak by way of a now, poor fit.

Saturday here and i have my first day by myself in 6 months!!

Ill probably sit & do nothing lol
Have a good day

My new Gastro doctor asked me if I have had the hardening of the aortic valve caused by AS when I saw him last. He explained more to me about AS than another other doctor I had been to, which impressed me and gained my trust in his ability to treat me for the IBS and colitis.

Hi
Thanks for the article, it eas very ineresting.

I try very much to think about what i put in my body, what i eat, when i watch someone who is overweight known heart problems i want to hit them up side the head just like in that V* commercial, excellent ad by the way it true, we need to think more about the drugs that we take too, i'm a fine one to talk, but i do know that i have a heart condition caused by the AS, maybe more a central nervous disorder causes mine as i have mitral valve prolaspe and vasso depressor syncope i can't take beta or calcium blockers becasue my blood pressure will go low and my heart rate high, i'm glad that i can't take them in a way becsue i believe that certain meds will kill you, the dependancy on drugs is aweful, especially pain pills. its the side effects that will probably kill you, i think that when you put a drug in your body that you end up taking another to treat that side effect.

eating sensibly not eating cake biscuits(cookies)sugar etc will probably, knowing what are good calories and bad calories is something that everyone should be aware of, the thing is is that most are in deny, i know thais went a little off subjest but if we thought about waht we ate i bet you that we wouldn't ned most of the meds out there and the insurance companies would not be getting rich. amen

Cooments!

mellie
probably waffling on a bit becasue i am in pain tonight and a bit piffed off becaus e i can't stand it anymore.
