I wanted to send a note to thank everyone who responded to my post the other day as anonymous. I did register now and will try to visit daily to help give my humble advice and support. I wanted to share a little bit of personal information so you know who I am. My name is Todd Steffes and I live in Omaha NE. I am married and have three beautiful daughters, Sarah 7, Megan 6, and Camille 3. I am a mortgage broker and own my own business. I was officially diag. with AS 3 years ago. I have taken all sorts of drugs to help with AS so I do have some advice there. Currently, I am on methotrexate, cataflam and soon to be on enbrel(spelling?). I went to the rhumy yesterday and my foot has not improved. My neck and back have been stiff also. He took a blood test and everything was fine but my sed rate was 71 up from 43 in Nov. Is there anybody with some advice about enbrel? I am a little bit scared of taking something I have to inject. I hate needles so my wife will have to do it for me. I told her she could do it but would have to wear one of those little nurses outfits. Once again, thank you everybody for the advice and support.

Todd, welcome officially. You can find out stuff about enbrel in the AS Pharmacy forum.
Liked the bit about the nurses uniform, something I would say too

Todd,
Nice to meet you too - good luck with the enbrel

On a lighter note I suggest you get Loz to add you to the mens forum as I think certain male members would share your views on the Nurses Uniform

Heh-heh

Cheers
Jo

Hi Todd,

I am so glad you have registered. Since you shared a little bit about yourself, I will share something about myself: I am Kristin, from Indiana, I have had AS for since I was 12 and am 22 now. I also have uveitis (diagnosed at age 7). I take Methotrexate by injection. I could not tolerate the nausea on the pills. Injecting is no big deal. I can think of many advantages and not one drawback. (Oh... if you would have talked to me before I started... I was hysterical, thought there was no way I was ever going to do it - and now I am a pro ) Make sure you get a biohazard box for your discarded syringes as you wouldn't want your girls getting into them! How often will you inject Enbrel?

I also used Cataflam with great relief - until one of my doctors realized I was triple dosing! It was using samples, no prescribing instructions so I just took more whenever hurt. Pity that it did not work when I took it like you're supposed to!!

Hi Todd and welcome officially. I'm glad you liked the site enough to register. It's the best thing around for people like us. I am currently on the enbrel and the shots really aren't that bad. I am now doing them myself. My hubby first started doing them for me and to tell you the truth...he didn't look all that great in a nurse uniform. Something about a 6'4 300 lb guy in nylons...did nothing for me but he was great with the needle.
You will get used to it and I hope you get good results from it.
Take care and again, welcome.
Lisa
