I am on anti-depressants but lately everything has gone so wrong for me that I'm sinking lower and lower into the "darkness". I just want my life back...

I don't know if you have daily committments but, if you don't just make sure you get out of the house once a day for a walk. Sounds weird, but find a new interest, something that you have always wondered wondered about.
Join a group that you have an interest in, that's what I did
and it helped..I kind of like the darker side of things, have lived on both planes. I also see a shrink once a week, because I struggle in the social department. I hope this helps. I give you props for not repressing it!

Walking in the sunshine is therapeutic.

I am lucky to live where it is warm, most of the year.

Hi Scotty,

I know how you feel. Seeing a psychiatrist on weekly basis can prove to be very helpful.

I have to echo what lotus has stated. Take a walk, do something to occupy your mind.

I would 2nd Lotus's advice....

When I was in the hospital for depression/suicide, I was in a lock down environment. After a 1/2 week and meds kicked in, my condition improved and I was allowed to walk around the hospital grounds with other patients.

I so looked forward to those walks, something in the past I thought of as ordinary. To this day now, I still enjoy a simple walk just to think.

Hoping you can find some improvement, but may take some time. Take one day at a time, that is how they come at us.

Tim

I have a yellow and a chocolate labs. I take them out to the park everyday and your right Lotus! It does give me an hour or so of peace and tranquility. My dogs are also a huge help along with my wife and kids. They are so cute and very loyal, lovable companions.

Let's see, the Paxil to even out the extreme highs and lows, and the Wellbutrin to help you feel anything at all because the Paxil wipes it out?

I'm glad you're on something, Scot. I do echo the sentiment that you should also be in therapy while on these meds. If you've been handed the prescription and left to fend for yourself, please fight for psych help, OK?

And I'm very glad the dogs make you get out of the house. Labs are wonderful animals, aren't they. There's something innocently joyful about them.

Warm hugs,

Kat

I got my first lab when I was down in the dumps and almost to the point of suicide. My puppy Shamus gave me a new outlook on life and helped me cope through a very rough time. He is still there for me and knows when I'm depressed and snuggles into me at night when he knows Im not feeling to good. Shamus is my Yellow Lab and my little guys name is Brodie, he is the Chocolate lab. I love those dogs like they were my children. Brodie is still a baby at 4 months old.

Aren't animals wonderful that way? All you have to do is love them and they are in tune with you completely. I'll bet Brodie keeps Shamus on his toes.

I'd be willing to bet that in another life, Shamus might be a Leader Dog, or Companion Dog (you know, the ones that sense when epileptics are going to have a seizure?) from what you say.

My cats have been like that for me. Well, the older one does run if I'm wailing, but she comes back as soon as I calm down and curls up, purring, next to me. The other two stick close by and purr. I think they know that it soothes me.

Many hugs,

Kat
