Sure have. Neurosurgeons have already removed two discs from my neck because of it. Spent the last days of my career with my head laying on my left shoulder because of the pain involved. Surgery was a BIG help.

What were the symptoms that you had?

I have been searching the net for info on my neck problem and am 100% positive I have Cervical Spondylosis and yet the doctors' have never diagnosed that.

Please let me know more about your case.

Thanks

AMina

Woke up one morning with a moderate pain in the left side of my neck, ignored it & went to work. At work the pain got steadily worse, around 10:00 am my left arm turned blue. Fortunately my wife worked at the same co. & drove me to the hosp. By now the pain was radiating down both arms to the fingertips. They took standard x-rays which showed bony changes in the vertebrae. After many tests including nerve conductance studies, mri's, cat scan with mylogram I was referred to a neurosurgeon who removed two discs & cleared away the bony protrusions that were compressing my spinal cord. After surg. I was able to raise my head again without pain, but to this day I still have minor to moderate problems with my arms.

Interesting you should post this now..... I have been having problems in the last few days with my left side. My left jaw has been bothering me as well with my neck.... the pain seems to go all the way down my left arm to my fingers and it is an achy feeling that kind of feels numb. It also hurts on my left chest around my collarbone and a little lower.... I do have lovely costochondritis but it usually more in the middle of my chest and the right side.

Anyone want to diagnose me?

I "think" I have this too. I have tingling in between my neck and shoulders, intermittent numb fingers, cramping in my hands, headaches and neck pain. My arms ache alot and get tired easily.
I also can't lay on one shoulder at night. I don't know if it's a rotator cuff tendinitis or a nerve thingy.
I'm going to ask for an EMG.
I was confused on this one at first because I didn't know the difference between a cervical spondylosis or a cervical radiculopathy. And if I understand it correctly, the cervical spondylosis causes radiculopathy, and so actually what they're diagnosing is the radiculopathy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

Keep in mind that I have not actually been diagnosed with AS but I do have all the symptons plus the HLA B27 gene and the fact that my father has the disease would cause one to think that I probably do as well. Getting a doctor to say that is another story....

I have been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in my cervical vertabrae. I do at times have pain but I have not been sure if it is my vertebrae trying to fuse in the area or this other diagnosed condition or BOTH! My father is very curved in this area so I would think it is just another manifestation of this wonderful disease. I find that not only when I have pain in this area but I have terrible muscle spasms AND I get dizzy at night in bed when turning my neck or rolling over to change positions. So far no numbness but I guess it is something I need to be watching for!

I would definitely be interested in hearing from others of you that have this pain as well as I am still learning all the different forms AS can take on....

Hi! I am pretty sure i remember seeing that as dx years ago when i was having stiffness in neck and pain too. About 2 and 4 years ago had herniated discs, having surgery. Before surgeries i had lot of pain in arm and weakness. Couldnt even hold a coffee cup without dropping it. My neurosurgeon said that is a sure sign of herniated disc, the weakness. Now after 2 disc repairs i have a total stiffness in neck. I still have some weakness and pain in arms and neck. Take care>>>Connie

Hi Amy,
I have the dizziness rolling over in bed or changing positions. It's the pits. Now I can't look up without getting dizzy either.
They did an MRI on my neck and said my neck was fine ..., I know that's not true.

Susie -
I complained of neck pain for a full year before they would even take x-rays of the area. That is when the doc discovered the degenerative disc disease. Hello? I got the inner ear story for ages and was given an anti-vertigo drug which did nothing but make me sleepy. If I didn't need the doctor for NSAIDS I wouldn't go at all..... I just wish I could find ONE doctor who actually has AS.... I would travel from afar just to see him because at least he MIGHT understand....
