If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Thanks everyone for your advice. All of the advice I got at this point, sounds like great advice to me. By Friday, I will certainly try to do it all including the fasting and the 3-day apple diet, and see if the vegetable problem settles down. For now, since we're getting low on funds from stocking up this week, I'll just finish up what I have left in the fridge, by cooking the veggies better, and dicing them up. Then on Friday, I will be able to start off right with the 3-day Apple Diet and fasting. After I do it long enough, I will then use everyone else's great tips to help the digestion along. Again, thanks for everyone's advice. I appreciate this. James.

Hi, James:
Sorry to not have elaborated: The vinegar should be taken in water at about 4oz water to 1oz vinegar; I usually take things fairly potent, then wash down with regular water or juice--that way a little medicine does not spoil an entire glass.
Good luck with the new regimen and I hope that you rapidly overcome the digestive problems. We are here whenever you need us,
John

Hi James. This sounds familiar and I was just diagnosed a few days ago with GERD, an acid reflux disease. Perhaps that is something you might check into, if you haven't already.
Good luck,
Timo

Hi Kerry,
I forgot to mention that the pain I get moves around as the undigested food passes through my intestines. My intestines also rumble very loud as it moves, and I also get some pretty bad cramps. Stringy, leafy, hard, or food with skins are the foods that don't get digested.
I'll do some reading on gastroporisis tonight, and see if this could be the problem. By any chance, would you happen to know if this slow digestion or gastroporisis could also lead to kidney stones? I passed 3 already, waiting for 2 more to come out.
Thanks for this info, I appreciate it. Take care, James.
James,
Yes I get that pain & cramps too unless I straighten things out with the diet. Always for me its because I'm being a bad with eating. Steaming the veggies is a good tip. I must have steamed broccoli, beans, carrots, or asparagus at least every other day in order for the bowels to move at all. Goes against conventional wisdom in these parts but I also need potatoes or some sort of starchy veggie along with the greens. I have very little in the way of involuntary muscle activity to help me down in that dept. So yes, steaming them is much better than raw. I also add a little olive oil instead of butter. If I have raw veggies (finger food at parties) my bowels will sing a chorus to the crowd. Sounds like the inside of a whale.
As you probably already know, low if not very low starch diet. I succumb to the occasional Starbuck chai latte (steamed milk)... which slows things again. Dangit...! When I say starch I'm talking about any kind of processed starch... cookies, chips, crackers, bread, cakes, etc. Ice cream puts me in an immediate flare. Same with anything that has MSG in it. Chocolate, Coke, or any drinks with caramel coloring in it = bad. I don't drink soft drinks anyhow so I don't miss it.
I do have calcium on and around my kidneys due to Medullary Sponge Kidney desease. Aren't we just the lucky bunch.
One last thing I can think of, I also take Previcid for the GERD which luckily aids in bowel movements... sometimes too much. I do use it sometimes as a aid.
Its all about finding out what works for you and whats bad food wise. By all means have the doctor check for anything physical. Make a journal of what you eat every day and how it relates to the way you feel. You'll start eliminating things right quick. The biggest hurdle I find is to control that emotional want for the foods that make us feel so crappy. You feel like crap so... lets eat something that makes us feel good right now. Unfortunately it only makes us feel worse a half hour later. Took me years to get past that.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Maggie, I thought it was going to be an ordinary birthday again, but Brenda's getting me a Bowflex Extreme SE (for us to share of course). Yippie! Now I am really going to KickAS. I can't wait until it arrives. Thanks, James.

Hi Timo, Gerd could be another possibilty, as I already have the acid reflux. My acid reflux comes and goes whenever it wants to. Must be because of the meds, and what I'm eating. Right now, don't have a problem with it, but a few days ago i did. So far, everyone's advice is beginning to work, and I am starting to be able to digest the food much better. Take care, James.

Hi Kerry,
Thanks for the advice and info, and so far everyone's tips are starting to pay off, and I am getting some relief now. Steaming I haven't tried yet, but I am going to try it in a few minutes. I can't eat raw veggies at all (except salads), it passes through me like gravel would. Not that I know what it's like to eat rocks or anything.
Yeah, I was wondering why I'm getting the stones all of a sudden. I had AS and bone loss for years, but never had any stones developing until the digestion problems started happening. Well, hopefully it will all be completely under control soon. I'll start writing everything down too, like you said.
Hmm, I don't have a very effective med for this problem yet, but I do take a Rolaid, or Mylanta, or Pepcid whenever I need it. They try to help, but rubbing my lower stomach is sometimes more effective. That reminds me, I still have to check my meds for starch.
Thanks, take care,
james.

James,
with UC you can get inflammation anywhere in the GI tract although some say less likely than Chron's.....
So I'd be monitoring this and making sure that if it does not calm down visit the Dr.
everyone can get ulcers in the upper GI tract alot of these can be fixed by anti-biotics that deal with a bug, over in australia they test for this with a breath test. Otherwise they try anti-acid reflux medication like Somac which reduces the acid.
I've had to have top GI scopes for this several times.....and the reflux has been reduced with these meds although sometimes it gets a bit nastier if I leave it too long before seeking help.
there are other ways to help such as eating much earlier and not drinking before retiring and some foods etxcto avoid coffee and aclohol; being the two that I remember...
Alot of the meds we are on nsaids and methrexate steroids etc are very harsh on the gastro tract and many of us take the anti-reflux medications routinely.
Good luck
Dave
