If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hello! I wasn't sure where to post this. I know some of you guys take probiotics. I was wondering what kind do you take? Does it come it a pill? Is it a liquid? Is it like a medicine with no flavor? What about yogurt? I notice some yogurts claim they have probiotics in it. Is eating it enough to be effective? I also noticed yogurt drinks with probiotics. Someone clue me in here! Sorry, a bit lost here, and I've tried googling with no success. Thanks in advance!

Probiotics, which is just a word for "good" bacteria, are added to foods such as yogurts, milk etc.... or they can come in the form of a pill. They can assist in the healing of the gut because they drive out the bad bacteria. Hope this helps Jimbo

I'm using Kefir (homemade from my own kefir grains) to get my probiotics. I'm sensitive to dairy products so I don't use milk very often and when I do, it is goat milk. But I often "kefirize" some coconut milk. Kefir has something like 40 different sorts of good bacteria and yeasts in it versus the handful you get in pills.
It really has helped my intestines (and I think overall health) a lot, whereas I didn't really feel like the probiotic pills were doing anything for me.
And Kefir is fun to make. Basically I pour some liquid (milk, coconut milk) into a jar and toss my grains in. Cover it with a coffee filter and rubber band. Let it set for about 2 days in a dark, room temperature cupboard.
It gets a wonderful tart flavor that I love. You strain out the grains (clumps of the culture) and put the resulting kefir in the fridge, then make your next batch with the grains.

If you take the yogurts (I love yog and take it practically everyday) then please do ensure that you take the plain one, full bio. Do NOT take that sweetened stuff as it is sweetened with Aspartame, Nutrasweet, or other 'sweeteners'. Sweeteners are BAD. Sugar or honey is much better, but wean yourself off the 'sweet', go for *plain. IF you are a fruit eater, then peel and cut various fruits and take with the plain yog.
Goat milk yog is good as is sheep milk yog, otherwise dairy cow milk yog. Yog iv VERY good for the gut - I give it to my cat and dog as well!

Kefir isn't made from "grain" it's just the culture forms into cauliflower lumps that they call grains for some reason. Really it's just a bunch of bacteria. I guess like they call the vinegar culture thing a "mother". The kefir culture actually eats whatever sugar (lactose or other sort) so it actually reduces the sugar level. Here's the most definitive site on Kefir: http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.htmlI found some web page to order my "grains", it was like an exchange where people would send them to you.

I am a James too. I believe your question on kefir has been answered. I have not tried it myself so i couldn't help much anyway. How is the NSD going? I am on a LSD and am taking sulphasalazine. It is going pretty well at the moment. My health has greatly improved since i started the diet, 4 months ago. I tried NSD but far too many foods have to be excluded. I have found that as long as you cut out the major sources of starch you should be ok. Of course everybody is different. Cheers Jimbo
