Hi Kerry,
I get this often too and I have to say...I Love it!!!
It embarasses my son Brian though because people are always thinking I'm his girlfriend. When he took me to the hospital not too long ago for blood test, they thought he was my husband. I said to him, "Brian either you just got insulted or I got a compliment".
Another time I brought him to his friends house and he wanted me to meet his friends mom. We walked in the house and before he had a chance to introduce us, the father came in and the mom introduced him to my son and then said "and this is his girlfriend, what's her name Brian?" Brian laughed and said "actually, this is my mom"
He walked me back out to the car and I said "honey want to go parking or to the movies or something?"
It finally got to the point when it wasn't funny to him anymore...We were at the park one day having lunch and there was a girl there that wanted to talk to him...she later told him that she didn't because she didn't know if his girlfriend would get jealous. He told me then that he's not going anywhere with me anymore because he loses out on chances with girls because they keep thinking he's already taken. Darn! He found me out! I had a good thing going too.
My mom and grandmother always looked young for their age, so I guess that gene that was mentioned was passed down.
I heard that if you still get pimples after the age of 30 then you have nothing to worry about...you'll stay young looking because this means that you have oily skin...a natural mositurizer which keeps the wrinkles away.
Anyway, like you said, the inside is a totally different story. I'm like a 100 year old on the inside. There is a woman down the street from me..actually she is my friends mom, she's in better shape than I am and she's 92.
I envy her so much when I see her walking by my house everyday going for her daily 3 mile walk.
At least we have our outer side to be thankful for. One more reason to be thankful that I have the mother that I do.
May our outsides always look better than our insides!
Hugs,
Lisa

After reading Strutsy's post and yours I'm starting to think except for the abuse maybe the med's or the AS itself is making us a bunch of baby faced exterior, geriatric interior ASkickers.

I went to golf course with my partner about two years ago one morning. He was about 41 and I was 37. On the first hole a woman , maybe in her early 60's , approached us looking rather aggravated. She told us we had somenerve cutting out of our high school classes to be sneakin out to the golf course. My partner, short guy with big chip at times, gave her a verbaltongue lashing about him being a well respected attorney and her need to learn some manners.

I was rollin ' at his taking such great offense and her blunder. Can't tell you how many times some twit 22 year old just out of college proofs me with a look like NO WAY I"D OF GUESSED YOU"RE THAT OLD.

Think my face is about to show signs of wear and tear in about 30 or so days.

Mabye you should try to get in touch with Dr. Dougie Howser?!? I'm sure you'd make a lovely couple of teenage docs ... he's still in his teens right, or am I getting older than I thought?

Cheers,

Lisa,
I too get the same reaction sometimes from strangers when I'm with my 15 yr old son. The barber thought I was his girlfriend., and a lady in the grocery line thought he was my husband. Like your son, he thinks it's funny, and is a good sport about it. Sometimes when I'm with my daughter's, ( 19 and 18), people think I'm their sister, or one of their friends. My ego loves it, 'cuz as you say, our insides feel like 80. I guess having long hair helps too. As for the color, only my hairdresser knows for sure!!
Forever young!! Laura

Oh my god Steve! Where does the time go! Only a month away. Too, too exciting.

As for the lines on your face, not a chance. I inherited this youthful 'condition' from my Mom, and two of us (my brother and me) didnt 'do her in'. You'll be fine. Young-looking and fine.

Take care.

Knew I had left myself open to that as soon as I pressed 'continue' .

Facts --

Its Doogie, not Dougie.
He's a fictional character.
You are old.

Sorry Mr. Mason - couldnt resist.

WOW! I'm glad to know there is at least one benefit to all the drugs I've been taking! I've never actually thought of it before but I'm still getting ID'd and I've been legal for a decade!

Talk about OIL! I have such oily hair I have to wash it with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Anything less and I feel just as oily getting out of the shower as I did when I got in!!

When I was 16 I looked 25. Now that I'm 27 I look 19!!!! Of course don't even ask about how I feel or what my x-rays look like.

It certainly is a blessing , but it can also get aggravating because of how people think you should be treated.

Must be the NSAIDs!!!!!

Interesting post!

When I was a teenager, I used to love to sunbathe -- this was before we all got nuts about sun and damage and cancer. My sister, a year older, used to say, "Go ahead and lie there -- today's suntanned beauties are tomorrow's wrinkled prunes!" Now we're 46 and 47, and when we're out, people think I'm "taking Mom out for lunch." I don't bother with the "I-told-you-so" thing.)

Oh, and when I was in the hospital the other day for the "costo-heart-attack" (LOL!), the ER doctor was leaving the room, and he stopped and looked back at me and said, "You have amazing skin. Good genes, or do you do something for it?" Told him I had no idea, but that he looked 12 years old. I don't think I saw him again.
