Thank you all for responding. Those were some very interesting stories. My doctor is hoping that "a few of these a year will control the pain otherwise we need to fuse several vertebra." I don't want surgery. But it doesn't sound like I can't have more than 3 of these shots anyway. We will see what happens. This is the WORST pain I have ever had. I can't sleep even with pain meds, sleeping pill and benedryl ALL COMBINED! I am lucky if I get a few hours a night and that is just killing me. Oh, and yes my doctor knows what I am taking at night just to try and get a little sleep. It has all been ok'd. Kat, Steve's version of the most painful sounds like something that would happen to Lon! HaHa! Sorry Lon, not laughing at you....just remembering all the funny stories, including your newest post. Pete will never get over you taking first place in that contest!  You guys are always so helpful and I thank you for that. Hugs,  Cristina

i was told this is a very dangerous place to have shots even under fluroscopy. i would never alow anyone to ever give me an eppi shot in my neck?????? alot can go wrong with the shot alone being places there, you better have someone who really has done alot of them and knows what they are doing or they can paralize you.
recently DX w/ PA/AS, FMS. have 11 screws & 4 metal plates in neck from crash in 02' neck fused @ c-5-6-7 anterior/posterior, laminectomy, corpectomy, foraminotomy. left shoulder had torn rotator re-attached, multi-level HNP in spine etc.

This doctor has done over 4000 of them. He even gave one to my mom. I can't tolerate the pain. I have to do this. These shots are done quite frequently but I have never heard of anyone being paralized from them. If someone has, the statistics have to be very low. I will take that chance. The pain is that unbearable.
