Jeanna,

I am so happy for you! Congratulations not only on this but your marriage to Loz, the engagement to Loz and so on, going back in time. I haven't been able to tell you any of these things yet!

I have to say it has been really wonderful watching your life twist and change and grow over the years that we have all been here. I remember when you were a newbie! And look now. Who would have thought you'd be living in the UK years later with the man of your dreams who turned out to be Loz! Awesome!

You have been such a special person to all of us on KickAS in one way or another. I will never forget the present you sent me when I was in the hospital! Sometimes I think I am still finding confetti from the wrapping falling out of my ears! You made me laugh so hard! Every Christmas when I hang up an ornament you gave me it reminds me of all the love, mail and the beautiful keepsake book you all sent me during that horrible time. I smile every Christmas when I pull out the ornaments and anytime I go through the mail, post cards and the beautiful book Michelle put together for me. We all are really an astounding bunch, don't you think?

Jeanna, even though I don't get on much anymore I have tried to read as much as I can and keep up with people's lives. Even though you don't realize it, I feel like I haven't missed much in your life. Your posts are so eloquent I know I feel like I am standing right there when you speak of things that have happened to you. And your replies are so helpful to so many of us. Thank you for sharing your life with us. You are such an inspiration accomplishing all that you have with AS. You ROCK!! Now can you be my doctor?

Love and hugs,
Cristina

Dear Cristina:

Thank you for a lovely post. Truth is, I don't post as much as I used to either. My energy for posting waxes and wanes, as it does for many of the people who have been around for years and years. I, like you, read much more than I post. It's nice to know what's going on with everyone, and that helps to keep connected, doesn't it? So don't you worry about apologising, it just isn't necessary.

I'm really glad to have made such an impression with my little pressie. You deserved all the love that came from all over the globe while you were being so courageous and fighting for your life. We were all very proud of you.

Thanks for your compliments about my posts/posting style. One of the reasons I don't post all that often, is because I put an awful lot into each post - they can sometimes take me hours to word correctly. You'd think I'd get over that, but nope, type A all the way, baby!

I'd love to be able to help everyone at KA with more than just my posts, and although I still think about rheumatology as a discipline, I just can't bring myself to do it. It'd be too close to home for me. I'll enjoy being a GP who catches the signs and symptoms early and makes quick referrals, that'll be my contribution to the AS world.

Many hugs, and glad to see you around.

Jeanna,

OK, so, maybe Loz opens a "HUSBAND ACADEMY"?!?!

Just a tidbit....YOU just skipped across a pond to be with your beloved and waved goodbye to all your family after one of the most stressful times of your life!! I CAN NOT imagine that there is ANYTHING at this point that could mire you knee deep!! You make the right decisions!! Trust in that!! Whatever decisions you have to make at this point pale in comparison to those you have already made!!

BIG HUGE BAMA HUGS FOR YOU!!!
Holly

Jeanna, I was so happy when I first caught sight of this post in the main forum-I'm still trying to get caught up. We had to get a new computer... so I was out of commission for a few days...

Many congratulations to you, and thanks to your supportive hubby-I have a liberated husband as well who pitches in wherever needed, so I can appreciate the great guy you've got.

As I've read through this thread, I've found myself reflecting forward to your office when you're finally in practice. I imagine the surprize to your patients as they realize you've got a Canadian accent (hehe ), and of the challenges you'll face as you try to understand some of the different English dialects you'll encounter as you consult with your patients. Anyway, I digress...

You certainly are an amazing woman-just think of it! In the last year alone, you've earned your medical degree, married your hubby, have become a (step)mom to Loz's lovely boys, moved across an ocean, and while you're on your honeymoon, you're studying once again to practice medicine in your chosen country!!! Holy Moly!!! Do take time to smell the roses and bask in the afterglow of your romance, OK?

Sigrid:

Please, never apologise for taking time to get a post. You wouldn't believe how long it takes me sometimes to get to all the posts I wish to reply to. Hope your new PC is everything you wanted and more.

I've worked 3 months in the UK previously, and you're absolutely correct about the accents on both counts. So many patients tell me that they really like my accent, and some 'dialects' are easier over here than others. Never mind getting used to the lingo. Pants ARE NOT trousers over here. And m'duck is a term of endearment (glad Loz briefed me on that one!).

Thank you for your gentle reminders to smell the roses. I'm so focused on the rest of the mountain in front of me, that I often forget about how high I've already climbed. Sometimes I really hate being a type A.

Hugs to you, and thanks for the time you took to reply.
