Multiple linen-changing, drenching, nasty clamminess almost every night going on three or four weeks (not counting). Any advice on dealing with sweaty nights?

I want you to know that you are not alone in getting night sweats. I get terrible night sweats when my AS is out of control. I can actually feel my body throbbing and I wake up numerous times in the night due to pain and have to change my clothes because I am soaked.

I think the best way to control the night sweats is to get the inflammation under better control. Have you mentioned your symptoms to your doc?

Well, I hope things get better for you.

Don't worry, sharebear, I know that I am not alone in getting night sweats: usually they are such gushers that my wife gets soaked too!

Hi zdog,

I get night sweats but I think mine is more from the constant prednisone I have to be on and the higher the dose the more sweating I do.

I sleep with a fan 24/7 sometime right on me sometimes just for the air to circulate the room, I could not exist without that fan.

It does not stop the sweats but it sure helps.

I would talk to your Dr. and see what they suggest.

Hi Lisa,
That's exactly what I found when I was on prednisone, although I've never heard of anyone who experienced the same thing until you posted. And I had to do the fan thing at night as well. In fact, I got so used to it, that I still sleep with a fan even though I'm off prednisone now.

I was having horrible night sweats, and I wasn't on Prednisone yet. It was just from the inflammation of the AS. I know how annoying it is, waking up stuck to your sopping wet sheets and can't even turn over. Yuck! And if I got up to go to the bathroom, then back to bed, my sheets were not only wet, but COLD, because I was keeping the air conditioning low enough to hang meat in my apartment!

I was running a constant temp of about 2 degrees or so above normal, and felt like I was literally roasting from the inside out all the time. 'Simmering in my own juices' if you will. However, the night sweats stopped as soon as I started Humira, and the fever came back down to normal. YAY!

Ugh...Night Sweats are the worst! They used to exhaust me so much because I couldn't sleep once I woke up soaked-on top of that I would be too tired to get out of bed to change my pj's--so I'd just lay there cold, wet and semi-awake. In early September I went through a couple of weeks of night sweats and found that if I kept about 3-4 old t-shirts next to my bed, I could just wake up and change my shirt (after drying myself off with the old one). It was no effort at all and I fell back asleep quickly because I felt dry and fresh (if the pillow got too soaked, I'd lay one of the t-shirts over it as well). That's my way of coping with them now.

night sweats are gross aren't they, I had them for months last year, then they disappeared and have been slowly returning the last week or two, getting worse and worse. I wish i knew what made it disappear before and why its returned now, possibly because i'm barely taking any meds at the moment so the infammation is worse...

I too get night sweats, but only when I am taking a lot of pain pills. Mostly Vicodin. I'm guessing that most of you do take pain pills occasionally (just a guess), so do you think that it could be related to that?
