Just had my second BASDAI (BATH ANKY. SPON. DISEASE ACTIVITY INDEX) test today, and WHOOOPEEE I'm in enough pain to be able to take it, dosen't it just make you smile. so now all I have to do is take another type of Anti Inflam for about 2 months to see if it helps my condition, and if nothing happens then I will be given a prescription for a 6 month trial of Enbrel. I was informed today at the hospital that Remicade is no longer an option, because of the cost, so Enbrel it will be.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Paul,

I have rather more faith in Enbrel than Remicade for some reason, less mice involved too, so that's good.

What NSAID are they going to make you suffer before you get the good stuff? Whatever, remember to say it doesn't help, even if it does!

Best of luck to you, you are going to be one of the first in the UK to have this kind of drug. Check the Anti-TNF forum for drug-specific support.

Cheers,

Hi Paul,
Good news...too bad you have to take an NSAID for 2 months to see if it works before they will give you Enbrel. Crud! Like Loz said...tell 'em it doesn't work, even if it does.
Take care,
Cara

My Good Lord!!
I battled for six months to get on Enbrel, my rheumy didn't think it could happen, but because Vioxx in 2001 raised my liver enzymes, that was good enough...I've been on Enbrel for 1.5 years now, and have felt 25 again...wow...but thankfully insurance covered the 13 grand a year bill...whoa....this reminds me, I need a shot tonight...when I've had to stop to cure an infection, I've been off it for up to three weeks before feeling stiff....it seems to stay in my system...

If you can give yourself a shot, you're good to go...it takes me five minutes...sweet...no traveling to the doc, taking time off work, etc.

I hope all is well with you, get through this other NSAID and become....Biologically Modified....lol...sounds like genetically altered crops....

Peace

All I can say is that Bruno and I think an awful lot like Loz. I and Bruno am or are absolutely certain that the 60 day treatment of any NSAID is not working at any time for even an instant.

I any lab technician, nursing student or Doc is even hestitant in confirming with absolute certainty that no other med's work to rlieve your pain and it is now Enbrel time then Bruno, Vito and Don Cappucino will be on the next Concorde to review the medical data and persuade the dissenting Doc or medical personnel that they are misinterpreting the data. Bruno always has a few bar graphs that clear up any cnfusion.

Good luck Paul. I love Enbrel and have been on it almost 3 years.

Thanks all.
Loz is that right that enbrel is not used on AS in the UK, I'll be feeling ever so important when I get my prescription, I was also warned that when the drug company or who ever it is that deliver the stuff I have to be there to sign for it and get it straight in the fridge. If I let it spoil for any reason and have to get another prescription I will get a bill for £750, so I'll have to make sure I keep up the bills for the electric too.
Steve, Bruno I've had dealings with before, but who's this Don Cappucino. Doe's he hang around at Starbucks by any chance looking for trouble, and if you try and get on Concorde to sort my Dr out you could be in for a very long flight, or at least wait.
Thank Bruno for me.

Paul, good luck with the Enbrel. I hope it works for you as well as Remicade has for me. If it does, the Lady Pamela will be hard pressed to keep up with you!

Many hugs,

Kat
