Has anyone experience with uveitis despite taking MTX (15mg/w) and Decortin (prednisone) 10 mg/daily? and with glaucoma?

Thanks...

Branky, Yes I have had 23 bouts of uveitis in the past. I currently take 12.5 mg of prednisone a day and have been on MTX for 4 years total in the past. I have found that the MTX did help much with my back pain but little with the iritis. The more prednisone I am on the less iritis I have. I haven't had iritis in 6 years. Several of my bouts in the past were severe. I had glaucoma with the first bout. It was very painful and then my retina detached as a complication. I have put over 1,000 drops of Pred Forte in my right eye. I have a cataract in the eye. But overall I still see pretty well. The only thing keeping me from more iritis is the long term prednisone use. I have been on it almost 11 years. Good luck to you. I hope you are able to get your uveitis under control.

Hi Branky,
From what I understand the MTX, has too be a much higher dose to be effective treating Iritis. Take a peek at Dr. Stephen Foster's website. forums.uveitus.org. He is a Ocular immnunologist in Boston, and treats this much more aggressively with good results. He also will answer your questions which is amazing .He is so dedicated and I become much more educated in the whole process of Iritis.

Take Care
Janet
