Hey Guys.

I am am from the US and I a proud of it (now being from Louisiana is a different story), I speak of prayer at times because it is a natural part of me and how I live my life. Some people may not like me...I will adjust. But I want to put in my 2 cents. Snotbox...Kaz..is one of my favorite people at KA. She is bright and funny and speaks her mind.
I might not always like what she says...but I like Kaz, and certainly hope she will stick around.

Kaz, I appreciate the sentiment you are expressing. Since the suspect riddled with bullets turned out to be innocent, I certainly feel badly for the sentiment I expressed. But I do not retract it. Had he turned out to be genuinely guilty, I rather doubt this discussion would be occurring. I do not excuse the officer's overkill, but frankly, I wouldn't want to be in the position of making that judgement call. I rather doubt any of us knows whether or not we would respond in any better a fashion.

As for the innocents in Iraq (and Afghanistan and Saudi and Iran and Pakistan), I have been vehemently vocal about how I feel about that. Perhaps not as vehemently here as IRL, as the war tends to be a somewhat touchy subject... but those here who actually know me, know that I am opposed to the way this war is being carried out, and I am opposed to the 'collateral damage' involved on both sides of it. Just as I am opposed to the young lives of the soldiers being snuffed out.

Hugs,

Kat

Hi Guys!

I too hope Snotbox will stay!

I don't always agree with what she says.

If she doesn't believe in God thats ok, but I do.

I don't believe in Budda, Islam or Witchcraft but I would never offend someone by saying something about someones religion.

As far as the London incident...He was "acting" suspicious, what got him killed is that when the police tried to detain him HE RAN, if you aren't THAT ALONE makes you LOOK guilty.

I would imagine if Snotbox and her son were out that day and close to this man, if she had thought she might be blown to bits this wouldn't have been an issue.

I believe in free speach, but I also believe here at Kick as people are like family and you shouldn't try to hurt peoples feelings.

As far as my opinion on the war, I don't think it should have happened and I believe the 1800 lives of americans lost is a horrible shame.

Snotbox, love ya just think before you write.

I guess I'll add my worth in here also....I feel that Snotbox should express her feeling also ....if it's on your heart do so but more in a respectful way for others because we all have feelings and it is free speech....I do believe in my religion just like you have your religion beliefs....to each own....why should I dislike you because of your spirits belief.....Sometime I wonder why we say the words ....oh God or OMG....IF THERE IS NOT A God....you see...
WE all have our differency in this world....not mine world...I'm here TEMPORARY...
I agree ....keep Kaz here...if it any thing we say out of the agreement....censore it.RESPECT FOR OTHERS AND OUR CHILDREN ARE WHAT WILL MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE...LOVE/PEACE TO ALL ..

Now this is hard for me to say-
*AHEM*
My last post on kick as was very over the top and I now feel a right divvy. I`m not taking anything back but it`s true, I did `flounce off` in an amature dramatic fashion and yes, I did sneakily come back to read the posts afterwards. (Read me like a book) I was really surprised by the positive responses towards me, I am a bit sorry for urinating (haha got away with it) people off but I just cant help myself. I would ask you all to forgive my hissy fit. Well, not forgive maybe, because I will probably do it again!
I suppose I am a bit `working class` I was taught from an early age to be cynical about the govrernment and people in authority. I was also raised as an athiest and I`m glad in both cases.
So then, I`d like to stay , after marching off, slamming the door, and then knocking to get in again.
Gawd.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to EVERYBODY who has been effected by this. I'm sure I'll offend somebody by leaving them off of (or putting them onto) this list, but for the record, when I say Everybody, that includes the friends and family of those killed, the friends and family of the killers, the people who live with enough hate in their hearts to pull the triggers, the people who nurture the hate in their hearts because of these acts, the children who grow up in a world of hate and violence, the governments that have to try to stop all of the violence, the governments who think violence will somehow stop any of it, the soldiers who are fighting in these battles, their families, all who have been killed in every country, and every group that is torn apart or wounded by the ripple effects of it all, including KickAS.

There are thousands of members in KickAS, people from all countries, religions, and backgrounds. There is no way to never offend anybody. This group is open to all of us, whether we believe in God or not, whether we support our country's politics or not. It is meant to be a SUPPORT group, although I must say I rarely see much support around here lately. Mostly it's a lot of prayer-bashing, doctor-trashing, nay-saying. It's sad, really. What must the newcomers think?

As far as the rules go, I believe it starts with "conducting ourselves in a respectful manner". Once somebody blows that one, it all falls apart. Then all of a sudden it's an attack on religious and political beliefs, and who wounded who first. What happened to "Consideration for the opinions, religions, nationalities and political views of all other members"?

Everybody wants to be heard, but nobody seems to think they should be considerate of others when they post. Yes, we are free to speak our minds here. But being disrespectful will always bring a bad result. Within a group of friends, a simple "cool it" is a friendly way of letting someone you care about know that they may be stepping over the line a bit. Censorship is when what was originally said is simply marked over or deleted (like with profanity).

That being said, there was nothing wrong with the oringinal post that started this thread. The cool thing, that I think many people missed, is that the first post, which voiced compassion toward those who are having to live under threat, was followed by another which agreed. The first gave "thoughts and prayers" while the second was "with you in spirit". Two Kats, with different beliefs, in agreement on the idea, which is compassion for those suffering. Peace, without judgement.

There was no need to start taking offense because the word prayer was used. Just like there was no need to take offense at the "Non-prayer" sentiment. There was no attack on, or suppression of anybody's beliefs, until it was made to be so, through disrespect. The key here is to respect each other no matter whether you agree or not.

As far as discussing religion in another forum, trust me we do. But everyone has a right to be here and express their opinions, compassion, and beliefs. We don't have to agree about them, but we all need to tolerate one another. It's not a fight until somebody makes it one.

Isn't there a way that the white lighters, fairy dusters, huggers, and prayers can all just agree to disagree and get over it?
