Dear Linc and Davo:

Thank you for your wonderful replies, but I had originally posted this in the summer (beginning of July). Klem had bumped it up recently for one of our new members, Zelia.

I don't have any iritis right now, but interestingly, my eye has just never felt the same again. My optho checked it, and so did an optometrist (when I was getting some new specs). Everyone says there's no inflammation, but I'm chronically mildly photophobic, and intermittently my eye aches. Sad but true.

I'm moving next week to the UK (yay!), and some long time iritis sufferers have warned me about the way the iritis monster likes to sneak up on us when we're stressed, but particularly when we're flying. I'll have my pred drops, my maxidex ointment, and my dilator at the ready. Bring it on...

Hugs to you both,
Jeanna

Stress, stress? Why ever would you think that you might be stressed? Let's see: 1) graduated from med school 2) got married 3) changed countries. Nope, no stressors at all.

Doctor J, (said in best Austin Powers voice) you get the freakin' Hans Selye award.

And, you know what they say, "When the going gets tough...

golfers snuggle."

Best regards,

jcwinnie

Or is it miggle, no, no, I think that is when you are in the rough.

Jeanna,

not sure what all the eye drops are but keep them wet with artifical tear drops that may well help.

I saw a TV programm from the UK one of the Horizon series about global warming and the Gulf Stream stopping.....and likely that UK weather will be like Canada/Alaska in 10-20 years so not many wet winters for you...

Good Luck

Hey Jeanna, interesting that you say your eye has never felt the same since the iritis episode. I've found the same thing. My left eye (which seems to bear the brunt of iritis) has felt somewhat odd and fragile ever since my initial bout of iritis back in '91/'92. Not much you can do about that, I guess. I dunno, me.

Just thought that was interesting.

So, one more week to go, eh. I guess you aren't excited at all, now, are you.

Many hugs,

Kat

Hi Jeanna

I too was interested to hear you say that your eye hasn't felt the same since your bout of iritis. This is the same for me. I often get the same weird feeling as if the iritis is starting over - only it dosn't. Also, my vision is worse in that eye.

By the way - I have flown several times since my first iritis attack and it has never caused a reccurance ( sp?) so I hope the same holds true for you.

JC, you have this amazing ability to make me giggle on the worst days. What a gift.

I goggled this Hans Selye of which you speak. I think I like the sounds of him, and this award alot . (For you other interested souls, Hans Seyle )

Yesterday was my last day of work in Canada, and incidentally, Winnipeg's inaugural snowstorm for the 2005-2006 winter. I started leaving my house at 7, but needed to shovel for an hour and 15 minutes before I could get out of the driveway. Got stuck in a horrible traffic jam (traffic lights out miles ahead, and service truck taking up one of the three possible lanes). Took 45 minutes to find parking once I got to work. *sigh*

I move next week, so I'm very much looking forward to a glass of wine and a good snuggle with my favourite golfer. Thanks for reading the situation so aptly.

Warm regards to you JC,
Jeanna

PS - How do you know all this stuff?!?!?

Hey David, thanks for replying again.

The eye drops are as follows: pred drops = prednisone (steriod) drops, maxidex oinment = dexamethasone ointment (another, stronger steriod), dilating drops = these blow your pupil wide open to give some pain relief, and also to prevent scarring from the inflammation. Just FYI. Oh, and I do have some artifical tear type of drops, thanks for the reminder.

After Winnipeg's first snowstorm (accumulation of 12 inches of snow over a 24 hour period), I'll be glad to have the 10 - 20 year reprive, and I'm not exactly sure how I feel about getting them back at all . That being said, I'm sure I'll complain about a green Christmas. Such a whiner hey?

Best to you and yours David. Again, thanks for replying when you thought I was in a bad way, it's super sweet.

Jeanna
