Hi All

Hi All

All I can say is "Oh my God" I'm Pregnant..
I can't believe it I had no particular signs, and I'm in so much shock because I'd got to the point I didn't think I could have any....well there you go.

I'm due about 22 Feb 2006, long way to go yet as I'm about only six weeks pregnant. I have had to stop the Naproxen (they're quite concerned about that one any advice without scaring me?) " I am on very strong Folic Acid 5mg, and the doc said to keep taking the Sulphasalazine, however being that this is the very point where the babies spinal cord and major organs are forming I'd rather stay off it for a good while also I don't feel it was doing much.

So they only drugs I'm taking at the moment are my Thyroxin 0.25mcg, Folic Acid 5mg still allowed my tricyclic Dothipin 50-75mg at night ( Doc thinks if I stop everything I'll been in agony)and am only allowed Solpadol for pain which is 30/500 codeine/paracetamol, but trying to take nothing for this first 12weeks. I have been referred to the Ob-gyn as an emergency and have the midwife on the 15 July.

I am in a lot of pain today, and still shocked and to tell the truth, scared, I have always wanted a baby and I pray everything works out ok. Please help me stay sane.

Love Laura.

LadyKitty Kicking AS When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary When troubles come and my heart burdened be Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me.

ps-i used to be a nanny!!! i love babies!!

keep smiling... it matters! FYI-Because of its literal definition ("fear of the marketplace"), agoraphobia is often misunderstood as a fear of crowds or a fear of open spaces. The clinical definition of agoraphobia is a fear of situations or places "from which escape might be difficult (or embarrassing) or in which help may not be available in the event" of a panic attack.

Wow Laura! What a roller coaster you've been riding lately. Are you holding on tight?!?! I'm ab-so-lute-ly delighted for you. Many many congratulatory hugs!

Please try not to worry about the NSAID thing. I've tried doing a quick search to see if I could help out at all, and there is controversy all over the issue. I know the natural inclination is to worry, but please remember that you didn't anticipate this. And NOW that you DO know, you're doing all the right things. Take it day by day. Don't deprive yourself things that can help you --- it must be hard to try to make sense of the influx of information you've received, but there are many KA sisters here who have travelled down this road who can give you the benefit of their cumulative experiences. There's no one right way to do this, just keep asking questions and making the best choices you can for both you and your baby. If you're suffering and you're not comfortable with taking the meds that have been suggested to be 'safe' for you, please remember (we always forget) about alternative sources of pain relief. I'm a big supporter of things like TENS machines, massages and alternating hot/cold packs on problem areas. Areas that I know less about, but are worth exploring include things like acupuncture/pressure, Reiki and many others that I'm failing to remember right now...

I believe in the deepest core of my heart that your Dad will be overjoyed with this news. I also believe that families are much more connected than we know outwardly. I'm sure on some level he's delighting in your news already.

Many big and tender hugs ,
Jeanna

I was due on the 11th of February ( 2004) when I was preggers with Christopher.. he was born on the 18th via c-section.. I was on naproxan as well, and stopped it, however, during my pregnancy, I had very little problems with my AS..

congrats...

Jennifer

Laura:

I am so very happy for you and you are not alone as you already know - I am now 16 weeks.

Don't feel bad about the meds. When I first found out I was prego, I was taking my arthritis meds, antibiotics, progesterone and blood thinners. I tried to wean myself off of the arthritis meds and was doing okay for awhile and then all hell broke loose around the second trimester. Now, I am back on my arthritis meds again and feeling much much better.

Laura- you are going to get a ton of healthy people telling you, you shouldn't be taking any medication but we know this is impossible. I have found trying to educate those people is a waste of time because they don't understand so now I let their comments go from one ear out the next-

Are you going to find out the sex of the baby? I am so excited and happy for you, keep in touch!!

Yay! Congratulations and welcome to the wild ride of motherhood. I hope your pregnancy goes well and you have a bit of AS remission. I doubt your naproxen will affect the baby since you stopped it so early, so try not to worry. (I was a pharmacist before my 3rd was born.) They mostly worry when you are on it in the third trimester.

We are here for all your questions and vents. Take care of you two.
