If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Good day all,
First time poster. I have had lower back problems for 4 years. I have not gotten an AS diagnoses from a Dr. yet but I am sure that this is what I have. I have had a couple of Drs. tell me it is probably arthritis. Anyway, I match all the symptoms and even had Irritis when I was 9-10. My question is this. In the 4 years that I have had back pain I have never had remission. It has been a continous pain, only varing in intensity. I recently had a very bad episode around christmas that lasted 2 weeks. I feel much better now, and I have started the NS diet. I am only a few days into it but I have my fingers crossed. Has anyone else not had remission? I am not insured at the moment and dont have the funds to go into another round with the Drs. to run more test and get another MRI. I am trying to gage if being in a relative matter of pain is normal all the time. Any experiences are appreciated.

Hi there and welcome
You may want to post this question in the #1 AS Web Support Group as this is where most of the traffic is and no doubt you will get plenty of replies there.
What you are experiencing does not sound uncommon. Many people find the pain is always there over the years - just to varying degrees.
Happy to hear you are giving the diet a go. My husband is having great results on it. From constant pain levels of 8 or 9 out of 10 (even while taking anti-inflammatories) to daily levels of 2 out of 10 these days. It took about 3 months to reduce the pain to about a 5 then a further three to get where his is now. He is now on a quarter of the anti-inflammotory dose he was on before the diet.
Best of Luck Chelsea

yep, that is how it was with me. constant pain and stiffness all the time. symptoms for me: Ribs and neck were quite stiff and hurt when you tried to move them too much. Iritis was a big problem. Mild inflammation of the knees and hands. The NSD has worked wonders for me too. Hi chelsea, Fantastic! I'm so glad your husband is finding the same great relief I got when the diet did it's magic on me. Not only is the pain almost gone but it didn't cost anything to speak of to get there and we're healthier than before due to an improved diet. What a deal, eh? I Love It! Hey Pete, Yup, this diet has been awesome for Jon. And it was one way to get him to lose some weight! He was 96kg pre-diet and is now down to a healthier 76kg which is much better for his height. He is no longer losing weight - lost a lot very quickly when he first started the diet but now seems to have stabilised. My family joke that he has found the "fountain of youth" as he's looking so much younger with all that weight off. He definately eats way healthier these days. He used to always be eating meat pies and doughnuts for lunch etc etc. A lot of junk food and very stodgy dinners - heaps of mashed potatoes etc. But he doesn't miss it at all and I've been very impressed with how committed he has been - he absolutely has no desire to eat that stuff anymore because he knows what it will do to him! Not worth it. And the benefits have passed on to me as well as I follow the diet too although not as strictly. I seem to have a mild form of IBS - but not anymore due to better eating these days. Hope you're still going strong.. Chelsea

Hi, here in England as regards to insurance, a person who had been diagnosed with AS would have problems with insurance, But, if the doctor had not diagnosed AS yet as in your case, then now would be the time to get insurance, If you understand what i meen, at the moment you "dont" have AS, so you dont need to tell anyone you have.i think i explained that ok, im not sure. hope you understand.
