Tomorrow it is seven months since I started Humira, and I have been in remission pretty much ever since!

Can sleep as long as I please, no morning stiffness, no painful back spasms anymore. No gross night sweats and fevers either. No more sliding backwards out of the bed and crawling to the chair. The crutches are in the closet and I don’t plan on using them anytime soon. Haven’t been well for this long since high school; had an allergic reaction to Remicade, and Enbrel didn’t hold things back after a while. Rest of these 7 years I've been in a constant flare, so 7 good months is a big deal to me.

Bloodwork is very unimpressive nowadays – ESR 15 from having been over 100 before Humira, and CRP isn’t even detectable with the highly sensitive assay. Earlier this year, they were really high and didn’t budge much even with numerous cortisone injections and pred tapers. In a while, we’ll try tapering MTX a few steps since Humira is working so well. It’s helping both the spine as well as peripheral joints and inflammatory non-AS-things, so it is really working overtime.

Pain is minimal unless I do some really stupid stuff.

Thank goodness for the biologicals and for great rheumies!

Nina

Great news Nina,
These are the results we all hope for. Sounds like you almost forget you have AS at times. Hope it lasts forever.

Nina, how lovely to hear that one of our family is responding to treatment so well. I do hope that this continues for you.

Good luck cutting back on the MTX.

Hugs,

Kat

Hi Nina,

This is the best news I've heard for ages. I am impressed by how successful Humira has been for you. It's also wonderful to hear that you have a good rheumy.

Please keep us posted with your progress, Nina. I'm hoping you stay in remission for ages ... how are your studies going ? I imagine it's much easier studying when you aren't in constant pain. Absolutely delightful...

Nina,

From one "biologic miracle" to another, congratulations on having made it thus far...

And let us share prayers that our respective biologics (ENBREL for me) continue to be the miracles that they have been.

I'm going on four months with ENBREL now. Four amazing months of being a healthy young man for the first time in my life. An amazing feeling it is. Haven't touched prednisone since mid-July and I hope I never have to go back!

Yeah, I get a bit achy from time to time, but doesn't everyone?

Lordy, I hope I never have to be that sick again.

Thanks Loz!

Humira is likely to be approved for AS here in EU within the next year or so. Hopefully many others will then have as wonderful experiences with Humira as I have.
