If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I'm a big fan of M&Ms and used to eat the m a lot. I nthe past year I've been eating them less and less. The last few times I've eaten them after a break of a few months as a treat ( I was addicted), the morning after I've been in a bad way- ribcage feeling disjointed, back stiff and pain levels quite high. This isn't the first time I've noticed it, and there were no other variables to my regular lifestyle, just the M&Ms. Chocolate doesn't have any effect like this just my ex-favourite food.

Hi Minsk,
Since going NSD, I've also been avoiding dairy and have drastically reduced my sugar. If I have sugar, I make sure it's special and really counts. Anway, I did have some dairy last week and definitely went backwards with the progress I had made on the NSD.
What I saying is, that even though I sometimes eat dark chocolate, I've been avoiding milk chocolate because of the diary in it. It seems a number of people who post here are sensitive to dairy as I obviously am, too. That may be why the M&Ms are bothersome for you. It could also be something added to the M&Ms -- a food starch or something. I've gotten so that I pretty much avoid things with very many ingredients or anything suspicious that might contain starches.
I hope that's helpful. This is all trial and error!
Best wishes! Paula

i'm not altogether unfamiliar with the making of confections... m & m's do use milk chocolate for the inside and that 'melts in your mouth, not in your hands' coating is a sugar glaze undoubtedly made with a corn syrup base. could not be temperature and humidity stable without it. a rich dark expensive european chocolate will not be likely to have any dairy in it, but be careful of swiss and belgian stuff with less than 56% cocoa mass; and chocolate has all kinds a very healthy and good for you things in its chemistry. one of my favorite food rules in life is: gas stations sell fuel for cars, not fuel for people...excepting of course coca cola. best of luck, aloha Ben

M&Ms do have milk and can be provocative for that reason, but they are also coated with tallow (not listed as an ingredient) that can be very bad--like a fry oil--for us.
Best Regards, John

As far as I'm concerned dark chocolate is a complete food- protein, fat, carbs, dairy. =)Thanks for all the info guys, it's very helpful. Dark chocolate it is.

is it the peanut M&M's ?? peanuts are a pain in the ar$e.. a shame since I love them so much. But yeah, dairy is sus too. I wonder if butter/ghee is safe though since it will surely be low in lactose / casein.
just me thinking out loud - I guess tahini would be a good replacement for peanut butter though. And I should try eating that on rice crisps..
still somewhat addicted to starch :-) z

Zark,
Even though I'm sensitive to dairy, I seem to handle butter just fine -- I believe it is just pure fat and is low in casein and lactose.
Minsk,
If you haven't done it already, do a search on the NSD Diet Specific recipes forum for "Awesome Flourless Chocolate Cake." It's a very rich, very dark chocolate cake -- loads of calories and fat but a wonderful special treat!!
