Hi Sally, raw carrots should not be any problem, but cooked carrots are very starchy! What monge toute beans and butternut squash are I don't know, sorry, I'm from Holland and don't jknow these names. But normal beans are also very starchy. Sprouted beans are ok I think.
I can eat starchy vegetables and fruits sometimes in a good period, but day after day causes me problems.

how can cooked carrots be starchy but raw ones not? Maybe the very small amount of starch in carrots (0.3 g/100g) doesn't react to the iodine test until cooking has broken down the cellulose structure, but it is quite wrong to say cooked carrot is very starchy. Remember, the iodine test is not quantitative.
If monge toute beans are a kind of green bean then they will not have very much starch.

I'm sorry, but I don't know. All I know is that cooked carrots can give a lot of problems and raw ones not. I never Iodine test. I cannot get it here. Or better, I ask a few shops, and I don't know where else to ask.
I will read Carol's book again tonight about the carrots, what she says about it exactly.

What a mindfield of advice! Where would be be without the internet eh? Thank you very much all of you who have shared your knowledge and experience with me.
My kichen is now fully stocked up with dried fruit, nuts, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables - which I'm keeping OUT of the fridge to ripen! I'm going to do a nominal one day fast tomorrow then start the NSD on Saturday. I'll let you knwo how I get on.

I have the same issues as Sandra with carrots, raw (or juiced) I am fine, cooked I have issues.
I love bean spouts, no issues with them.

Thanks for your note. Will stick to raw carrots for the moment. Butternut squash is similar to pumpkin, but sweetner. It is a favourite veg in South Africa, where I'm from originally.
The iodine test on raw carrots shows up very black, but they're meant to be ok, so I may have to do some further research on them, or just see how things go.

Hi Sally, I hope you can eat the Butternut squash. Maybe someone knows. I don't know.
In a good periode you can try it. You will know soon if you're body accepts it or not.
