Right after I started Enbrel I got symptoms of a yeast infection and strep throat as well as a new case of iritis. I even got a small fever. But the rhuemy just said to skip my next dose and call back if it didn't go away. It went away - even the iritis - without ever developing into something more serious. I'm not saying that yours will be that simple and I'm not telling you to forget about the docs but - don't panic. It may just be your body adjusting to the new meds. My doc said he thinks that's what my body was doing. Now, two months later, I'm still on Enbrel (just got the 90 perscription by mail even) and every thing looks good. I hope it works out well for you.
God Bless, Stacey

Linc, I sure hope you aren't having a reaction to the Enbrel,
anxious to hear what your PC had to say. Take care.

Ok, maybe I'm freaking over nothing...the doc said, yes, possible infection, she saw the gland was swollen and painful, and gave me antibiotics, four times a day for seven days...so, I'll do that and tell the rheumy that I'll take my next shot Sunday or Monday...can you take a shot while on antibiotics??????

Thanks for the support!!!

Peace
Linc

Hey Linc

I have been watching this spot closely waiting to hear what the doctor said.

When Eric was on Enbrel, he could not take his shot if he had any type of infection or virus.

Remember it has been a year or so since his last shot, so things may of changed since then. Your best bet would be to ask your Rhuemy.

I hope that you are able to tolerate the Enbrel, and it works as well for you as it did for Eric.

Please keep me updated on what is happening.

Lori

Linc: some doc's will allow you to continue with the Enbrel, some won't. Depends on the type of infection and how severe it is. Call your rheumy and let him/her know what antibiotic you're on and for how long. Let him/her make the decision about the shot. Missing one or two shots won't set you back too far. Just hang in there.

Linc,

I recently had a gland infection, although much milder than yours, I was infected just the same. My GP put me on antibiotics for 10 days. He told me to stay on the Enbrel. The infection cleared up just fine.

Ok, my gland still hurts, but I have the antibiotics and spoke with my rheumy today, she said to just wait until my 7 day dose is done, and then if all is well, give myself another shot....if it does not go away then my primary doc would take xrays thinking it could be dental related...

So, hopefully it'll go away....I can't imagine stopping the Enbrel now, I feel too good...

Peace
Linc

You know, Linc, it could be dental. Before I had my root canal, my glands would swell up and become incredibly tender for no apparent reason. It's because the infection in the tooth hits the bone, which it can't penetrate, and it has to go somewhere. Haven't had that problem since.

I hope yours clears up, tho. Root Canals, while fun for the nitrous oxide trips, really suck.

Hugs,

Kat
