thanks for your comments. i'm not trying to make it a gender issue, this has been my experience. possibly for a lot of men with a.s. because we're usually expected to be the primary means of support. since i am usually asked early 'what i do for work', i've learned to say 'live on disability' even when i'm able to work. makes a great filter for many potential 'friends' or 'dates'.

thnks for your note of encouragement. i'm glad u found a keeper in victoria, and an enjoyable life there. hopefully the abusive punks that forced me on the streets there at 15 in the mid 70's have matured a bit..looking at the conditions of the bc gov't and its healthcare system makes me wonder..

thnks for your note. in my projects i do attempt to speak about the difficulties being a person with disability, wether the difficluties are physical or caused by people with abusive expectations. we know this starts in school and some of us should not be forced to leave there if we can not keep up. with the a.s. i have difficulty keeping up with the university course system even today..please treasure your family support, for many of us it cannot be expected, only prayed for..

Hi,

A very moving post. I had a rough time of it from my partners, Dr.s the lot......but deep down you know what happened.

Now you have been diagnosed I hope you get the support you need to rebuild your life. From my experience you are better off without the abusers in your life.

I wish you well!

David
