Leia,
I have had this procedure without anesthetic. A needle goes into the subconjunctival sac at the base of the eye and basically bathes your eyes with steroids. I'd like to share 2 points with you. I had the best results using pred forte eye drops when I instilled them and then laid my head back and occluded the tear duct by pressing against my tear duct on the inside aspect of the eye for 2 minutes while keeping the eye open. Otherwise, the drops immediately drain down your throat. And, #2, I initiated the apple fast (see diet forum) after reading of its potential on this site the last time I had uveitis and it resolved after the second day of the diet. I went NSD and the uveitis has not returned.
Definitely worth a try...

Hi Leia,
I too have had needles in both eyes and was painless becuase they popped in freezing drops first.

Good Luck,

Isn't lasic great! I alss had the surgery and despite the initial freak-me-out-what-the-heck-are-you-going-to-do-to-me-again?-question, it was quite easy. I see great now and was -6 in both eyes. 20-20 now! Thank goodness for new technology!

Ian, have you ever had uveitis? Just curious. I had considered having lasix, I mean, geez, the cost of 2 pairs of specs about covers the procedure! My ophthmalogist told me, however, that if there was a history of uveitis he wouldn't do the surgery.

I haven't had uveitis or iritis, but I did discuss the AS with the doc beforehand and he was fine with it.
I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Ian
