Tonight I got the terrible news that my 16 month old nephew is in the hospital. My brother was carrying him on his shoulders and he slipped and fell. I don't know the particulars right now but I do know that my nephew Alec has a severe skull fracture and there is bleeding putting pressure on his brain. He is such a cute and smart little guy with one heck of a personality. No one could help but fall in love with him after spending a little time around him.

He has been moved to the nearest trauma center because he will very likely need surgery soon to relieve the pressure on his brain. My brother says his head has swollen up so much that he looks like the elephant man. I know children are resilient but I am worrying so much right now that if he survives he will have serious brain damage. All I can do is pray and offer as much support to my brother and his wife as I can. I just came back from spending time with my mom (who was in tears most of the time I was there) until my step-dad got home. I suppose I shouldn't worry about the brain damage until I know if he will be alright. One thing at a time, right? Thank you all for listening and for any prayers you might offer on his behalf. I think he is going to need them.

Christina

Christina,

Sorry to hear about your nephew, he will be in my prayers and heart tonight!

Keep positive and take it just as you said, one step at a time.

Take care,
Kristy

Thank you both. I was able to maintain my composure for awhile but all of a sudden I can't stop crying. I think I need to try to eat something and put on a funny movie as a distraction.

I appreciate your prayers and I'm sure Alec does too.

It's 8:20pm here and I just received a phone call from my mother. They took Alec in for emergency surgery.

Hey there Christina~

So sorry to hear about your nephew. Poor, poor little one. Are they taking him to surgery to relieve some of the pressure?

Your family is in my prayers, and just remember, he is in Gods hands. Let that bring some peace to your mind.

Take care~

Stacie

Hi Stacie.

Yes they are relieving the pressure. It's 10:42pm so I have to assume he is still in surgery.
