Hey everyone,
I have good news and bad news. First the good. My new Rhuemy has said she wants to put me on enbrel. This was wonderful news after nearly 2 years just trying to find a doctor who believed that I actually had real pain. In one of my earlier post I said my job was going to terminate me as of Nov 19, because they allow only 12 weeks leave for illness. Well I have been trying to find a doctor who would listen to me and get me some relief from this pain so that I would be able to go back to work. Well I have, but now it is to late. They did terminate me. BUT, I have now found a doctor who wants to help me. But she said enbrell is too expensive without insurance. So it;s a catch 22.
Anyway she gave me some information from the company who makes it, and they offer reduced cost for people who qualify, and I wanted to let everyone know about it. The name is ENcourage Foundation. I dont know if you can apply online, but the phone# is 1-888-436-2735. I have not applied yet, but I am going to as soon as I get thru here. I just thought this info might help someone else without insurance who needs Enbrel.

Getting approved is half the battle - - unfortunately paying for it is the other half. Just as something to consider as a less expensive alternative, I've been on one of the other new disease modifiers for two years now, went from hobbling on a cane and hurting constantly to living almost a normal life - - all I need is a spine transplant and I'd be really back to normal, have a lot of mechanical damage in my lumbar and cervical spine. You can PM me if you'd like more information on what I'm taking, which is Arava. It cost just under $400 a month without insurance.
