Hi friends,

My first Cat Scan is scheduled for this Thursday at 1:30pm. I know that many of you have gone through so many tests that you are familiar with them.
I went to my GP on Friday who scheduled me an appt. with a surgeon today. I have a tumor on the left side of my back below my rib cage and I am scared. I'm afraid it is big because it has been causing some back pain and numbness in my left leg. The surgeon scheduled me for a Cat Scan.
I was just reading up on the Cat scan procedure. It doesn't sound too bad and I don't think I'll have to drink anything since it mainly involves my back. Basically it says that it is an excellent way to get detailed pictures so the Dr. can tell the location and size of the tumor and how close it is to major organs. I am scared. I am a positive person and will definitely try to think positive! I'll hoping that y'all can tell me what to expect and PLEASE keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I know I won't get the results right away but just hope they don't keep me waiting too long.

Worried,
Liz

Oh I'm sorry to hear about your tumour! I have not needed a CT scan so I can offer you no info there . You will most certainly be in my thoughts on thursday and I hope it all goes as well as can be and that your wait for positive results is quick.
(((((((((Many hugs))))))))

All the best,
Sal

Ohhhh Lizzzzzzzzzz....
I am so sorry to hear this news!
I have had a couple of ct scans and they are painless and relatively quick compared to the MRI's I have had. Just try to relax and it should go pretty easy. I THINK..not positive. But I think thats where the machine will move to position of scan and will ask you to hold your breath for a few seconds while it scans. Then it will tell you when to release and breathe again.

You are in my prayers Liz. You have always been a positive person and so supportive when some of us are not feeling well...so let us be here for you now...cyber hugs and prayers for you]]]]] Please keep us posted.

At least CAT scans are quiet, MRIs bang and clang.

I had one last year when an x-ray revealed a spot on my lung. It was a scary time, waiting for the test and then the results. We're all here waiting with you and worrying with you. Most of these things do turn out to be nothing, so keep positive thoughts! Even if they have to use the dye it's no big deal, I had mine through an IV.

That's one of the traits I love about you! But just in case, remember,

Good luck with your test!

Liz,

I'm sorry to hear about the tumor. I really hope it turns out to be nothing serious. As for the CT, as others have said, it is nothing. I've had several. The worst part is having to be flat of your back on that steel table (just like x-rays). But it doesn't take too long (unlike an MRI or bone scan). So don't worry about it. Even if they have to do one with contrast, it isn't bad. They usually start an IV and inject the die through it. Please let us know what you find out.

Hi Liz,

Sorry to hear about your tumour! I really hope and pray for you it turns out to be something insignificant. I had a CT scan on my back last April. Nothing to worry about there. If I remember correctly you just lie on a table for about 20 mins. and they take pictures. No pain involved at all. Good luck on Thursday. I will be thinking of you. Be sure to let us know how it goes. Take care.

Liz, just wanted to let you know that there are positive thoughts, white light and love heading your way from Toronto. I know you are frightened right now, and I won't tell you not to be. Just try to take it easy over the next few days and not fret yourself too much. OK?

Many hugs,

Kat

I am a Cat Scan Technologist. CT scans are very simple most only take 10-15 minutes. It sounds as though you will need an injection for your scan. That is up to the radiologist on that day and the dept. protocalls. The injection for CT is safe the only thing most people feel from it is a warm feeling all over. Reactions are rare and usually only consist of hives. If you need an injection the technologist will determine in you are at risk at all for one. Really nothing to worry about I do about 30 Cat Scans a day on people and rarely see complications. If you hae any question feel free to ask me. Shari
