Hi Zark - thanks for that. Have a fresh pineapple in the fridge so to speak so have been working my way through that - seems to help. Yes, i agree with you about your body getting used to things quickly. The lady at my health food shop is wonderful and keeps giving me different types of fish oil in case my body has become used to the previous one - so far still on half the amount of anti inflamms I used to take, so it has to be all good.

Thanks Helen - Zyflamend - will definitely remember that one and will print it off and take it to my local health food shop. Thanks for that.
Yes, it is totally overwhelming but in a really nice way - it's wonderful to meet so many people who have tried so many things and have that world open up to you. You say you watch what you eat - I have been trying a few dietary changes and have noticed differences, it's quite amazing how simple changes affect pain levels. It's also very empowering to learn more and be able to make changes which reflect on your level of pain and therefore taking ownership again and not having to rely totally on medical professionals who are mostly "generalists", which I'm sure has happened to more than just me!
Thanks for your input - really appreciate it.
Julie

I said: >> The best source is probably fresh pineapples. The next best source is from a tablet ..
I think I want to reverse that guys :-) I don't think there is that much bromelain in the pineapples. The bromelain tablets work great if you use it in a cycle: take it for a week, then give it a break for a week... then start the bromelain again.

Still, the pineapples are really good aren't they:-) . I bought a few that weren't quite ripe. Got to make sure I get ones that are nice and orange in future. Unripe fruit *could* actually make the pain worse !

>> Yes, i agree with you about your body getting used to things quickly.

It is a bit of a nuisance. after trying lots of alternative meds I have found several that work well at the start and then need a break.
Good news is I can try alternating between days of Bromelain, then days using ginger (in coffee), then galangal, then essential oils, ... etc.

Zark,

I have read that best source of the bromolien in the pineapple is in the outer skin.... and should only consume this if you buy organic (usually juiced).

I would agree tablet more effective than actual pineapple itself from my experience.

Take care,

Tim

They say when you juice the pineapple you should use the skin. I havn't tried it but I am going to next time I go to the Health Food Store and get an organic pineapple.
