Hi Meric

I am so sorry. I have been awful lately about welcoming people.

Welcome to our family. It is the best place to be.

Real ladies man? I should show this to Dorrit and give her a laugh or two.

Thanks, what an ego booster you are.

Hi Meric
I wanted to say Welcome. This is the best place to get information on AS.

Sorry to hear that you are tired all the time. I also suffer from fatigue. I feel like I am dragging myself around all day long. I don't take any medication and have pain constantly so I get very little sleep in the night so I am blaming the way I feel on that. I did have a load of blood work last week so if anything is out of wack it should show up.

But I agree with the others you have to get this checked out as soon as possible. I could be anything or nothing but you have to find out for sure

Take care
Valerie

Well George as you said before, I'm a real good judge of character. And you were not wrong in thinking that. I have very good instincts, when I use them that is.
Ok, ok I admit I have a real weakness for the older more mature man, but don't tell the bear

Hi Valerie, and thanks for the warm wellcome :)
I guess I will be able to see my doctor tomorrow since he'll be back from his vacation. And hopefully I'll get some answers and get over this fatigue-thing somehow :)
Take care..

Howdy,
I am tired alot also. Eitiology is up for grabs, but no matter what it is from, I cannot take care of the house, the kids, or myself like I used to.

I do alot of things to combat it, I am a gymnastics coach/program director by trade, and i went to college to be in pediatric ophthalmology. SO I am using what I know to combat the extreme fatigue.I have a cousin who is a psycotherapist, and one who is a Dr. so with their help, and the help of my co workers I give it "hell." this way.......

The way it is explained to me is...There is a physical and a mental componant to fatique. You need to do somthing, you are to tired, then you get frustrated at yourself or not having the energy to do something simple and you feel worse, this leads to a "depression of fatigue". The fatigue is real and physiologically based, but the chronicness of it, leads to a mental fatigue, or depression also, compounding the problem. I am told that only by addressing both avenues will I get long term effective relief from this debilitating malaise.

So I fight with routine, exercise, diet, nutrition/nutriceuticals

Breaking the cycle is helpful, having realistic expectations of yourself, and keeing those small daily goals, by hook or crook is a real help, for me. The key is to set small goals, and hit them no matter what, the feeling of "I can" is most powerful.

Also some of the nutriceuticals/vitamins I use for joint pain, and to fight the side efects of some drugs, are good at addressing fatugue. CAUTION! ADVISO! PROVISO! when I say vitamins i mean soley pharmaceutical grade. Most the vitamins I put in my body are made by Roche Pharmaceutical. I would never use, nor advocate anything not pharmaceutical grade, period. NO GENERICS!

A lot of people don't have good luck with herbs, vitamins, nutrients, hormones etc because they use the cheapest thing they can find. I follow the disease protocol, and get some additional advise of the fine points of vitamins etc from Life Extension Foundation. The web address is www.lef.org.

They have real scientific, medically based information on how to cope with disease, fatigue etc........and for a small, very small fee, you can get an nutritional advisor to help you review your blood work to see what is helping what is not, order more blood work, were to go from here. They will get all the healthy person tests that most drs wont order. Their book Disease Therapies and Protocols most overlooked by conventional medecine is an invaluable source for ways to enhance treatment of most illness. I also love the guide to innovative doctors.

I believe in optimum helath. EXAMPLE: if my iron is close to ok, that means it is not clinically significant anemic, but is that optimum, hell no. Things don't have to have completley fallen apart to recieve maintenence!

Well, I hope my soap box did not bore ya, lol. Everyone here is so super. A better place to be I dont know of! I hope you find some resorces to help you, don;t let your Dr. discourage you from trying to fight using whatever tools you can find, conventional or unconventional!

Here is to Kicking AS.
Love to all,
Shu

Hi Shu !!
You can't imagine how helpful your post was !! :)
In reply to:

You need to do somthing, you are to tired, then you get frustrated at yourself or not having the energy to do something simple and you feel worse, this leads to a "depression of fatigue"

Now that's what I'm talking about !
And now I'm sure I have to fire my doctor ! See, he never helps me about these things, he just gives me medication and tells me to come again later I can't even ask questions because he's so busy, he wants the next patient to come in !!!!!

In reply to:

Breaking the cycle is helpful, having realistic expectations of yourself, and keeing those small daily goals, by hook or crook is a real help, for me. The key is to set small goals, and hit them no matter what, the feeling of "I can" is most powerful.

And that's what I ment by "ignoring the fatigue"

Thanks a lot Shu, I got a lot of inspiration :)
Take care..
