If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi All,
Must share my dietary journey over the past week. It's been a busy one with 3 of our 4 kids and friends here for the entire week. I had been pretty strict with the NSD and no dairy excepting hard cheese and have been taking rutin 500mg 4x/day for the past month in addition to other supplements I have taken for several years. Well, I forsook the NSD and low dairy secondary to too much wine and celebration. I am amazed that there has been no flare. Indeed I feel so well that I am continuing with a regular diet. I have, however, discontinued the wine (not as much fun without the group!) and the only other possible confounder in this experiment of mine is that bing cherries are in season and I wonder if:
#1 These bing cherries that are supposedly high in quercetin may be lending additional antiinflammatory activity
#2 Something in the wine contributed to my improvement with the relaxation and laughter it induced
#3 The antiinflammatory activity of the rutin is covering my indiscretions OR
#4 My gut has healed over the past 4 months and, like DakotaDan, I am now able to tolerate starches?!?!
OR maybe I'm about due for a major flare!?!? I'll keep you all posted!

Hi Linda,
How long have you been doing the NSD? And what brand of rutin are you on? Just curious. Great to hear you are having such good success. Hopefully we all follow in your footsteps. Happy eating.

Deborah, I've done the NSD and dairy limited to hard cheese since February. I take Viable Herbal Solutions rutin available on line at http://www.viable-herbal.com. I'm thinking this is too good to be true but I've got to run the experiment. I haven't eaten bread or pasta but did have a piece of my homemade blackberry pie thickened with cornstarch with wheat flour crust. Also have eaten rice chex cereal with milk, soft cheeses and some crackers without problem so far... I'll keep you posted! Hi Linda,
That is good to hear..... how many years did you use NSAID's? I think that plays into the healing.
Are the cherries organic? I eat frozen cherries often (2-3 times a week).... not sure how much help they are.
I would believe your gut has healed some... are you doing anything specific? Also believe the rutin is helping.
Best of luck on continued success.

Tim,
I have taken NSAIDs for a long time - at least 20 years. Initially, since I'm also photosensitive, I thought I perhaps had lupus and would take aspirin until my ears rang. Probably a stupid thing to do but I did get relief from the pain. When ibuprofen went over the counter I started using that and often would take 600 mg 4-5x/day so I have a history of lots of NSAID usage. I'm sure some gut healing has occurred as my digestion feels much "calmer." The only oils I take are fish oil 1000mg 3x/day. Maybe that is helping, too? I picked the bing cherries up at a fruitstand and they were not advertised as organic so I doubt that they were. I think I will pick up several more lugs (each lug is 18#), freeze them and plan on having a cup every day. Can't hurt!!

Hi Linda, I found flax seed oil to be very effective. And I eat steamed white rice in normal quantities w/ no issues. May be fish oil is helping you ? Rgds., Krishna

Krishna,
Perhaps it is the fish oil. I have, however, taken that for several years without any results until just the past week. If I so much as ate too many almonds or drank a glass of milk I would start with back stiffness, joint pains and uveitis flare so this is truly amazing to me. Guess I'll just continue with my supplements, slowly introduce starches and see what happens...

P.S. I don't want to get my hopes up, but this is really exciting!!
