Hello Linda

Although I don't know you well, I have read quite a few of your posts and responses and it is very obvious you are loved and respected by many here at KickAS.

I am so sorry to learn that your illness is so serious. I don't really know what to say but feel it is important that I respond. I feel like ignoring it all and hoping it will all go away, but I know that will not help you at all.

Please know that I am truly sorry that the prognosis is not good. I wish you happy days spent with the people that you love.

Hi Linda, it sounds as if that drug trial is like a decathalon the way you describe it. It's important to regain all the strength you can after your surgery so understand why you wouldn't want to put yourself through that. Sounds like you've thought a lot about priorities. It is the simple things that make life enjoyable so here's hoping you can get outside and enjoy the summer sun and your garden. The fresh air and sunshine is a potent medicine so double the dose on that OK? Best wishes

Linda,

You are in my prayers. I read your post last night, but couldn't compose a reply until this morning. I wish so much that I was here more often, with all of the wonderful friends that have helped me so much through some of the hardest times in my life. You are one of those who helped me so much when I thought there could be no real help or hope, but I was surprisingly able to find that hope. Please let me know if there is anything at all that I can do to help you, my friend. I can surely understand that there are times, many times, when it is hard to get here to KickAS, whether fatigue, time, or many times even the very stress and worry that so often brings us here. Please don't ever worry about 'taking so long,' the important thing is that you were able to come here to your friends at KA and tell us what is happening. After becoming a family, I think that is becomes harder to openly talk about some things, and I am so glad that you were able to talk about this.

That is so wonderful that you have been able to prioritize and decide that you deserve some quality of life rather than being a guinea pig. For what my oppinion is worth, though it is your decision, I think that was the right one. I have found that very often it is the decisions alone that we make that wind up many times a much stronger medicine than anything that a doctor or hospital has to offer, and those decisions can offer the miricles unlooked for and unexpected much stronger than anything we could even wish for. A small example is when one makes the actual decision to fight AS, I think that the change in mindset heals us much more, physically, mentally, emotionally, than Enbral or the NSD alone ever could.

I am glad that you are able to balance putting it is God's hands with living life. So many are not. You are not giving up, but you also making sure that you do what makes you the happiest. Keep up the good work my friend. You are doing what we all should do everyday. Keep up faith in your spirituality, you have many, even that you do not know about, praying for you in so many ways.

I truly wish that I had words that could help you more than words can, that I could help you like you helped me (i.e. much more than you know). I think that there are some wonderfully wise replies here for you, and can only reiterate what some of the wonderful and supportive people here at KickAS have said. I, too, am so happy that you got that wheelchair so that you can enjoy the freedon to relax and take in the sunshine on a beautiful summer day, look at a flower for the simple beauty that it has within it, feel the breeze and enjoy it without your thoughts filled with unimportant things that fill the thoughts so often.

Last of all, I want to thank you for taking the time and using the strength through your fatigue to come here. Please do when you can, for you are a wonderful person, and help so many people here without trying or intending to do so. Telling about your fight and strength that you have found when you need it helps so much more many times than when one replys to someone offering help. But, please, also take all of the rest that your body tells you it needs when it needs it.

Keep on keeping your priorities correct and being the wonderful person that you are, and keep up your belief that miracles can happen, that what will happen will happen. I know how hard that can be when everything is so hard, but please try.

Take care of yourself my friend, and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. You are a wonderful person and have touched so many lives in such a positive way.

Your friend,

Daniel

Hi Linda,

You sound confident and comfortable that your decision is the right path for you. I think I'd be apt to make the same choice, considering that particular trial does not sound designed to provide relief. The choice to live in quality moments is one most of us KAer's have had to consider to some extent, and doesn't reflect on your will to keep fighting, just your determination to do so on your own terms.

It's a blessing to hear that with this new wheelchair you are able to regain some lost freedom. I hope this enables you to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh breeze in a nice garden setting once in awhile. A little sun, greenery and flowers are the best medicine nature has to offer us; relaxing mind, body and soul.

Even tho I don't know you very well yet Linda, I wanted you to know I'm praying for you too, that you may find strength and fullfillment in each day, and feel comforted knowing friends from around the globe are rooting for you!

With gentle hugs,

mig

Hi Linda,
It sounds like you´ve done what´s best for you, and that´s great. In all things going forward I hope you´ll put yourself first as much as you are comfortable in doing.

Enjoy each day for the good things it brings, however few.

It will be a hard journey. If you can travel with a smile in your heart it will be easier. Something tells me you will :)

If my recent experience can be of any use to you whatever, PLEASE call on me at ANY time.

Many warm hugs,

  Loz
