So I did the weed and seed protocol diligently for just over a year. I guess that would have been about 6 or 7 rounds. After that I just took the probiotic for about 6-8 months, as I was feeling really good and enjoying much improved starch tolerance.
Then this last Xmas came and I was super, outrageously, cheaty and was back in enough pain that it was time to do it again. I'm now on round 2 of berberine and feeling pretty good. If I still feel good once I switch back to the probiotic and stay good with my diet, I will probably not do another round for awhile and just stick to daily probiotic. To be clear, I never got back to square one: I can still eat grapes and carrots and apples and other low starch foods that were completely out to the question for the first 6-8 months, when a strict NSD was necessary.
The timing is really just about how I'm feeling (and is ultimately driven by how faithful I've been to eating low starch).
