Sue you should be taking Metformin if you can tolerate it. You should also have your blood sugar checked when you have had a medrol pack. I would be very concerned with the amount of oral steroids you are taking and being pre-diabetic. My doctor told me when I was pre-diabetic, to lose weight which id did and clean up my diet but I still got it. My rheumy says 99% of prediabetics become diabetic when on steroids.
