i know of other topics that were "taboo" to talk about, til someone famous spoke out. now they are accepted topics of discussion.

sounds like that's what has to happen with suicide / suicidal thoughts. not necessarily having a famous person championing it, but rather making it an accepted topic of discussion. as it sounds like, from what you are saying, not talking about it, is the biggest risk factor, to it changing from a thought, to an action.
