just the opposite for me. when my gastritis first came on, it was bad, and when my stomach is really bad, something must happen to my small intestine too, because my fruits and veggies don't get digested (for sure, and maybe other things that i just can't tell) and i lose weight. then once my gastritis is better, the bowels are better too. when this all first hit in 1993, the best thing for me seemed to be meat and complex carbohydrates (starches): oatmeal, cream of wheat, bagels, toast, gingersnaps, etc. i don't eat those things now, on LSD for my blood sugar and cholesterol, and it really works for that. but when my stomach (and bowels) go south, end up having to add some complex carbs in until the storm passes.
