I'm researching eating raw (including meat) and have learned that eating raw is better for our bodies. Some exceptions, though, like cabbage family.

Eating raw has enzymes in it to help digest and it has a component to it that attracts water to it for digestion. Cooked foods repel water and has no digestive enzymes, making digestion difficult. The only exception is soup made from cooked down bones/cartiledge/marrow. This kind of broth has gelatin in it, which attracts water to it and helps heal unhealthy gut issues.

Those people that consume raw meat tend to be much healthier.

We have been 'brainwashed' by our germaphobic culture to thinking that it is 'dangerous' to even touch, let alone eat raw meat. Organic, pasture fed meat is best. Stick it in the freezer for a week and all parasites will die. Fish cannot be frozen since it becomes mushy. It is soaked in lime juice for a day. Besides, we are the only culture that does NOT include parasite cleanses each spring & fall. And we are a very sick culture. Sushi is actually not 'safe' to eat as it has not been soaked to kill parasites.

Studies on the native Eskimo people showed that they have no health problems when they consume their traditional diet of raw fish & blubber.... Those that have converted to 'modernized diets' end up with all the same diseases we encounter. Those diseases disappear when they return to their traditional diet. Makes you think a little.

As for the bowel issues. Last week we started raw meat and things were actually moving well. I missed this week because we are trying fish and I am not a fish person and am not eating as much as I should. It took me about 3 days to get over the mental part of eating raw and it is mixed with other things. It actually tastes good. I have not found anything to be completely disgusting. I've only tried raw lamb, salmon & tuna.

You get the right recipes and prepare it the right way and it is totally safe and yummy!

The best way to get vitamin B6 is raw meat and raw milk. It is heat sensitive. We are out of balance in our B's because of all the 'added' B vitamins are out of proportion and cause problems.

Sue, take a look at the Nourishing Traditions cookbook. She has a LOT of info about diet history, research, etc that you would really enjoy. And it gives easy recipes to eat the right way to nourish our bodies.
