Hi, Andreas:

We really WANT a good immune system, especially peripheral, and ocean dulce does help but I don't know whether it is this that gives it specific anti-inflammatory properties; I suspect not. The dulce is sometimes a small-leaved, many-branched purple-to-red seaweed, but most dulce (spelled dulse sometimes) is found with larger leaves like this: . Although it is not common in standard diets, it is a very gut-healing food full of trace minerals and even some B12 and is very alkalizing; perhaps the reason for its apparent anti-inflammatory properties.

Garlic, even in powdered form, is well tolerated by Carol Sinclair, but I like it fresh and raw and perhaps its antibiotic properties have something to do with what I believe is anti-inflammatory properties, but I don't consider most antibiotics to be anti-inflammatory; there is something else that might be related to the alicin which is something like DMSO or MSM--sulfa compounds that might have anti-inflammatory action. I admit that these compounds (garlic and ginger) are borderline starchy, but we need to experiment and there is a good case in our collective experiences.

Health to You,
John
