So exciting. Does require 'skill' so some surgeons are none too keen...Ho-Hum...but with the right operating tables, surgery much less diff. (Must check out the operating tables - might the ones I was reading about a couple of years ago, then lost track of).

Hmmm - good in theory, but when it goes wrong it can go horribly wrong. eek (Got an UNHAPPY patient had one of these...)

A small incision anteriorly but that means pushing all those delicate structures around the inguinal canal out of the way - under tension from a retractor for a while - can lead to a neuropraxia / axonotmesis of the lateral femoral circumflex nerve -> numbness, pain and weakness in the lateral thigh and down into the knee.....

Gimme a big cut in the butt any day! It's all just postural muscles they're carving their way through - maybe more imitial postoperative pain but it's less likely to cause long term damage as muscles are better at healing when stretched / cut than the old nerves!
