If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Well, can or can not eat in regards to what? This forum discusses the No Starch Diet or Low Starch Diet Dr. Ebringer professes.
With this diet, you avoid or reduce starchy foods. The starch feeds a bacteria (klebsiella) within the intestines that eventually leads to the inflamation under his theory.
Your starchy foods are several - basically the entire bread group (bread, cereal, rice, pasta, doughnuts, cakes, flour, pie, wheat, oats, bran, bagels etc.....). However, starch can be found in other foods as well like legumes (beans, peas), corn, bananas and potatoes.
This is not an all inclusive list. There is better reading at the dietery links on the Home Page.
To offset eliminating these foods, you increase proteins and allowable fruits and veggies.
Take care,
Tim

Along with Tim's comments and the dietary stuff with Dragon Slayer's food list, it is worth noting the general similarities of starch intolerance we all seem to have. However, each of us have different levels and many different intolerances - i cannot eat wheat products, but can eat some rice, can't drink much beer (gluten) or eat avocados. It goes on and on... Read Carol Sinclair and her path is probably the same for most of us, just change some of the foods..........seems best results if each individual determine their own tolerances after starting with a period of almost total exclusion! Others find it more suitable to just take out the major groups of bread, pasta, potatos, cakes and biscuits and see if that's enough to reduce symptoms. Ted proAS_KickAS

bono, don't panic. The medical researchers have been using a low carbohydrate diet (which is what LSD/NSD is) to treat type 2 (adult onset) diabetes. Apparently by following such a diet many patients were able to reduce medication and some started producing all of their own insulin requirement themselves. It will be worth your while searching the PubMed archives for more information. Try this for instance http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11277288&dopt=AbstractAlso Loz who has type 1 has experimented with the diet and reduced his carbs, and he may be able to pass on a few tips. Bono, for diabetis also check this site: http://homodiet.netfirms.comyou can also buy the book, this high FAT diet claims a total cure of diabetis type I & II To my logical mind it sounds totally insane to advise patients with reduced insulin to eat those foods that require insulin-release. But yeah the same with AS "we ignore the cause, and focus on suppression of symtoms." That's the treatment We all have to decide ourselves which way we go. Also check www.newtreatments.org for more info on diabetis & diet. regards, Arjan

Bono, don't panic. Maybe you can start with a gluten free diet (avoiding all wheat, oats, barley and rye products) and keep potatoes, corn, peas, rice, etc. (Many of us have noticed the wheat products being the biggest problem)Then as you get used to this level , modify your carbohydrates to fruit, juices and smaller amounts of the starches. If you are treated with insulin, you will have to be careful and adjust your insulin dosages down as your blood sugar dictates. See a Diabetes educator if you have problems, but a gluten free diet can be done. A low starch diet can probably also be done, but much easier if you are treated with oral hypoglycemics (pills) rather than insulin shots. Good luck!
