Amber,

Since our nose and ear posts with George, I've been thinking about my other talents. Then, you throw in the word "hidden." Meaning we hide them from others? They're that bad? Or, meaning they're so hidden that we haven't discovered them yet??

At any rate, as previously mentioned, I can cut off a piece of tape to the exact length needed with NO measuring, even from the other room. Yup! I tear something that shouldn't be torn, get the tape, and it's never even 1/8" off! And off course there's the ear wiggling, and nose twitching (like Bewitched). I think that's it, oh, except playing piano and folding laundry really well and my impromptu comedy act. That's all.

Cheryl,

Getting published is SO hard. As a writing instructor, we are supposed to be published in some way eventually (and kickAS doesn't count!). My goal in the next few weeks that I'm off (winter break) is to finish 3 almost-done articles and do my queries for them. There are some great workshops, if you havent's attended any? Get a copy of "Poets & Writers" or "the Writer" (both are periodicals). They list lots of workshops, and awards and grants which include publication. Keep at it. "Writer's write every day."

Uh... I have a talent for singing BADLY! Ear wiggling isn't that exciting, but I can do that. Violin isn't so hidden. Since I haven't been able to play violin lately I've been trying to brush up on piano... I played for 16 years. I haven't touched it much for 2 years and I already forgot how, that's actually kind of pathetic. Um... I draw and paint: I'll take any medium, especially pencil or pen and ink. I used to be a pretty good synchronized swimmer... for Montana. Um... I'm not really getting anywhere here, am I? Oh, oh, I got it... I'm a natural at music theory. I took the theory AP course in high school and the teacher was constantly asking me to teach it. I got the highest score possible on the national AP exam.

Hey Amber,

Ballet and musical theatre for years and years. But like Strutsy said, too many joint injuries....now looking back on it....probably AS!

So do you have any hidden talents? I'm not sure if you answered your own post!

Take care,
Megan

I suppose its all in your definition of a "talent". I have an uncanny ability, thusly a talent, to lose just about anything imaginable and then find it once again at the oddest of times.

Also my recent surgery has proven that I have the talent to take a mere normal human pelvic bone and wear a fist sized crater into it quite unbeknowst to myself.

And I do believe I have the knack to make any small child smile without a word or any grand motion. Just a well placed mischeivous gleam in my eye and a smile that lets them know joy is in the air.

Not great talents but mine.

Singing Baritone / Bass was a once-tried attempt at finding a talent.

On being heard singing I was asked if I sang Tenor - only to be followed by "if so could you please sing ten-or-eleven miles away?!?!"

hidden talent????well I guess it all depends on what one calls talent...LOL if you mean like singing dancing or something like that...then I sing a very deep baritone I can bake and I like working with numbers,if I end up losing my job due to the monster then I can go back to school and finish getting my degree in accounting....I like to build things tooo like crafty things mostly wood stuff and I have designed a few tools that I need to use at work...if that what you call talent....some people think I should be a comedian but I dont think I am that funny.....oak

And I almost made it, sad story. Harper Collins kept a book for over a month - - and it was sent over the transome because I fired my alleged agent - - and then I got a nice note saying they only published so many mysteries a year but suggesting other publishing houses. This was the same time I moved my home office, with the help of my husband, and somehow, some way my backup discs disappeared (accidentally thrown out?), as did the paper copy of the last third of the book When I set up my computer again it crashed! Taking my book with it. That was when computers only had an A drive. So I still have two thirds of the book, just have to rewrite the last third again - - the best third, of course. Might make a nice winter project In the meantime I'm writing another one, and have another one dancing in my head. Now that I'm no longer working I have no excuses. With poetry I've had more success, aside from the anthology I have had a couple others published - - but it's almost impossible to make a living writing poetry - - and the ones I like the best are like my childern, I will not submit them for rejection!!!!! But even if I never publish anything I really enjoy the process.

Cheryl
