When I was a little girl, my brother and I always used to leave a note along with the cookies and milk for Santa Claus (and carrots for the reindeer). In the morning the glass would be half full, and the cookies half eaten (usually one left with only a bite taken out of it .......... geez he must have been busy!). Along with the gifts would be a reply to our note (in green pen of course). If you asked me growing up, reading that note was my favourite part of the morning.

I still have one very special letter that Santa left for us. I've shared it once before, but it was out of season. So, without further ado, an encore performance (if no one minds that is) .

Dearest Jeanna and Vernster;

Well - I see you've both been very good children this past year, in fact, you're two of the nicest children I know. I hope you like the presents for you under the tree and in your stockings. You both deserve them. I know your parents are very proud of both of you.

I've heard a lot of talk lately that you both think that you konw the truth about me - whatever "the truth" really means. While I can't control what anybody believes, please rest assured that I live on in the thoughts of good people everywhere and you two are two of the best people I know.

Also, please don't ever forget what I stand for - and that is, while it is nice to get really nice presents, it is just as nice, in fact it feels even better to be generous and give other people presents too. It's important to share and to love one another. As long as you remember and other people remember these things, a little bit of me will live forever in your hearts.

Well, anyway Jeanna, I hope you're feeling better real soon and Vernster, keep up the good work at school and at soccer. I love you both and I will be back again next year. Thank you so much for the cookies and the milk.

Love and kisses,
Santa

Wonderful letter J!
We have the same tradition at our house, with the half eaten cookie, carrot, milk and letter. The kids are just as excited to read the letter as they are to open their gifts. (although they are getting older now ) My mom is the biggest Christmas nut you'll ever meet. She gets sooooooo excited...and has a different Christmas sweater to wear for every day in December.
She still says to me, you have to believe in Santa, and he will come.
Sure 'nuff,,,,there are still presents under my mother's tree for me from Santa.

Thanks for sharing!

OK, that elicited an audible sigh from me as I finished reading it. How lovely! Thank you so much for sharing it - giving us the gift, if you will.

Love and hugs,

Kat

In my house we always did the cookies and carrots thing, but never the letter. We mailed our letters to Santa. I think this year Santa will leave a note. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jeanna,

That is a very nice letter.... very well written. Growing up Santa visited our place while we were at Christmas Eve service. When we got back from church the presents were under the tree (Santa had visited). However, one year we caught mom putting the presents under the tree and knew something was up : )

Take care,

Tim

Wow oak...too bad you can't find anything good to say about the Christmas Season. I guess it's not a special time for everyone.

Hope you can find something magical about Christmas this year...I really do.

Cheers,
Steph

Jeanna,

At least you waited 'till after Thanksgiving. It seems Christmas gets moved up earlier every year. I remember as a kid never hearing about Christmas until about a week before. Now you talk about getting pumped for Christmas. You only had a week! My parents (er...I mean Santa) didn't set up the tree or decorations until Christmas Eve. We'd all come down stairs and be blown away. I try to ignore all the commercial hoopla until a week before otherwise I'm so burned out with Christmas a week after Thanksgiving. You reminded me of the early years...ahh yes, those were the days. When I think of them now I think, no pain. What a Present that would be now. Dear Santa....

Kerry
