If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Check out Erie's Web site on my thread about carpal tunnel feet. This can cause pain as well as numbness (I have no pain, just numbness) and is common with RA - - and I guess by extension AS. I always thought it was my left ankle that was the problem area, turned out to be all those little bones between the ankle and the heel were in the process of fusing, are now fused and need surgical intervention to point my foot back in the right direction. Always something Cheryl Dogs don't care if the house is messy

Hi Buggie, orthotics and strecthing, plus there is a tape job you can do(basketball players do it) it also streches that nasty tendon. Also a walking cast to wear at night keeps the tendon streched. I have heel spurs to boot! I know the pain. Cortisone works in combo with a pain killer.(injection). My orthodist wants me to cut the tendon. but I'm still pretty active. five minutes before you get out of car start streching your foot it helps. But keep your foot in the car while driving, smile! good luck Arthur P.S. I started my methadone for my neck. I'm pretty happy even with pain!

The podiatrist didn't say if the thinning of the pad on the feet is from AS or not. I didn't ask. Unfortunately, my insurence did not cover orthotics. She fought, to no avail, with my insurence company as AS is a medical reason to have orthotics. The podiatrist said many companies pay, at least in part, for orthotics. Mine wouldn't. I can not afford nearly $400 for them. She then suggested getting a custom made pair somewhere else. That is what I did. I am getting these for $99 = s/h. The podiatrist said the kind made out of a foam impression are not quite as accurate as one made from a casting, like she would do, but she's sure they will help. On the website it says "90% of heel pain is due to the pulling of the plantar fascia when you step down and the majority of these can be treated with a Custom-made support. The support helps to eliminate the pulling , stretching, and tearing of the plantar fascia." Into every life, a little rain must fall.

Great ! Thanks for the info Jams... I do hope that once my insurance kicks in that I can get something for these tortures "soles" of mine. I had to relax this afternoon and I had so many plans for last minute shopping before heading out in the morning for the KickAs party, but my feet would simply NOT allow it. I had to give in....and take it easy. Take care, Toodles! Angie

Buggaroni (LOL)!!!
I have foot pain, but have some padding....but I can totally relate to not being able to get out of the car!!!!! Getting in and out can be a complete mindwarp....holding my breath, jerking, pain shooting up and down, etc......did I mention lifting my butt off the seat?? And people wonder why I don't like to drive in NYC....it's not the city, it's the stiffness!
Hang in there Bugster!!

i'm sorry you're having such a bad time with your feet. when i limp painfully....immediate relief is putting frozen bags of peas on it. then the only thing that will calm down plantar fasciitis is to go to the podiatrist for a cortisone shot. at least that will get me walking normally again. once he gives me the shot, it works like a charm and there's absolutely no pain. my feet and toes are numb, numb, numb.
podiatirst said he could do the surgery to remove the spurs but it would only come back so the only relief he can give me is a shot in the heels every couple of months.
i hope you can find a podiatrist that will help you and relieve your suffering. you deserve better than to be in pain all the time.

Linc-ster !! How the heck are ya'??? I'm packing right now for our Kickas party tomorrow...pain or no pain...this Buggy is there !! So you have the same 'getting off car battle" as well?? I dont like it at all. My new car is better than my other one I had. This Mitsubishi I bought is smaller but it has more dashboard room and leg room. I still have to bite my lip, but I think because Mr. Winter is here and it's time to torture my bones again. Talk to you later ... Toodles! Angie

Hiiiii Leslie !! How are you??? I was thinking about you yesterday.. Was planning on pmin'g you to see how you were doing??? Hope that you are well.... Frozen peas..hmm..that's a thought. I took a nap today..I was supposed to go run around and do some errands for my Kickas trip tomorrow..but...my feet would NOT allow it !! Every step was torture. I rubbed them, stretched them out..ect. Luckily my mom had taken a nap earlier so she and Grandpa Robert took the girls..and I relaxed my feet for awhile. Much needed. I'm afraid it may come to the cortisone shot soon.....I am trying to avoid it as I have had shots in my knee my hips, and ribs. I dont like the needles very much anymore. BUT if it may help I will have to. I get my insurance in a few more days so I'm gonna call my GP for a referral to a podiatrist. I saw the Footspecialist right across my GP's office the other day. My GP gave me some Ultracet meanwhile. I'm desperate for some relief. good to hear from you and perhaps we can chat soon.. hugs to you ]]]] Toodles! Angie
