If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi all,
Looking for advice about low dose naltrexone.
I'm having good results on NSD alone. As long as I'm very strict about what I eat I can keep my pain away, but I'm still a bit stiff and any small mis-step with food easily sets me into flaring. I'm interested in LDN just to keep from being so sensitive. Overall, I'm taking a gut healing approach but I'm just wondering if the LDN will make the long haul of getting rid of bacterial overgrowth and healing leaky gut a little easier. Anyone have experience with this?
I was going to hold off on LDN but I'm about to change insurances and I'm lucky enough to have a doctor currently that's willing to write the RX. I figured that I should get the RX now, so when I change insurance (and doctor) I don't have to start from scratch at making the case for LDN with a new doctor. The only thing is that she wrote the RX for the 50 mg tablets. From lowdosenaltrexone.org I realize that I need it compounded and it should be a smaller mg amount.
I'm assuming I need her to write a new RX? Or do I take the full tablets and then send them to a pharmacy to be compounded? Any particular ways that are best to get it compounded?
Sorry if these questions are redundant with past posts. I know I've seen some of this info in the past but nothing comes up when I put LDN in the search.

Hi I read that you crush a 50mg pill and dissolve it in 50ml of distilled water. you can use a dropper for children's medicine and take 4.5ml store it in the fridge and shake before each use. Mike

I too have been wondering about taking LDN for a while as I was wondering if in order to heal, your immune system needs a break/retraining not to attack itself. Maybe this would help. let me know how you get on if you decide to take it

I started taking LDN 9 months ago, the first thing i noticed was my fatigue let up a bit and i was sleeping better. I am feeling better than i have for many years but there's no quick fix for AS.A strict diet, lots of probiotics, humeria, celebrex,LDN, and exercise keep me comfortable but my disease is there lurking waiting for a slip up. It ain't easy being me. Mike

I think I'm going to start tonight. Trying not to have any expectations and will definitely keep at it for a few months if nothing happens at first. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the replies all.

I took LDN for about a year, and I could not tell that it helped any.
AS symptoms started 1991. Official dx in 2006 with HLA-B27+, fused SIJ, bone spurs in back, extreme rib/hip pain, and other family with SpA. Started Enbrel in 2006 with good results, but stopped in 2010 due to nerve damage (MS) from it. Getting good results with no-starch diet since 2011.

i've been on LDN (4.5 mg) since september 2009.
It has helped my enthesitis immensely; before LDN, I tore tendons and ligaments more often than I wished. Nothing torn since starting LDN. and my tendinitises are better too.
But I still flared and so started humira june 2013.
I'm currently on both.
I think the LDN helps me fight colds and other viruses better than if I wasn't on it, even with the biologic, so I stay on both.
I do think the humira fights the LDN some, not sure about the other way around. But noticed on humira that my tendon issues increased a little right after each shot.
still, together, i think they are a good pair.

Spondyloarthropathy, HLAB27 negative Humira (still methylprednisone for flares, just not as often. Aleve if needed, rarely.) LDN/zanaflex/flector patches over SI/ice vits C, D. probiotics. hyaluronic acid. CoQ, Mg, Ca, K. chiro walk, bike no dairy (casein sensitivity), limited eggs, limited yeast (bread)

Thanks for the responses everybody! I started 3 nights ago at 2.5 mg. No major changes but I do think I'm less stiff. I noticed midway going up the stairs yesterday that I was almost jogging up them. I don't think I've done that in months so it's either a strange coincidence or a really good sign! About finding a doctor to write the RX - I'm so glad I found one who just said sure when I asked for the RX but she instructed me to take the full 50 mg pill every day! Just another reminder that sometimes doctors (even good ones) don't know very much about the specifics of what we're dealing with and educating yourself is so helpful!

Hi miniowl - this might help - http://www.ldnresearchtrust.org/content/my-experience-low-dose-naltrexone-david-gluck-mdA good overview of a doctor`s experience with LDN. There is a good LDN yahoo group, and Dudley Delany can certainly answer most questions - Dudley's Low Dose Naltrexone Sites - Google Sites https://sites.google.com/site/dudleyslowdosenaltrexonesites/ - Similarto Dudley's Low Dose Naltrexone Sites - Google Sites Low Dose Naltrexone: Modern Wonder Drug By Dudley Delany, R.N., M.A., D.C.. Naltrexone is an inexpensive generic pharmaceutical approved by the United ... See you had a question on the 50mg pill. Yes, dilute. Would also suggest find a good paper on LDN, printing it off and giving it to your very nice and obliging doctor. For myself, I have been taking LDN for over 8 yrs now. Find it helps, is efficacious in many ways. Every now and again I do take a holiday from it. Hope this helps - take care, go well - MollyC1i - Keeping on Keeping on (as we all do...!)
