Hi all,

How is everyone doing I can't wait for spring with plenty of sun to tone down my immune a bit. We had a horrible winter here brutal wind. smirk

Impossible to do any sport outside.

Not sure how many members here are aware that prolonged sun exposure supresses the immune system and that Vitamin D plays a pivotal role in regulation of immune cells.

I've started taking a double dose of Vitamin D daily with food.

Didn't expect any result as I've tried what not. I also have asthma.

smirk

AS + asthma = very bad situation impossible to survive, some days feels like terminal cancer.

I recommend this article on the Telegraph

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/10686624/Vitamin-D-could-it-stop-modern-diseases.html

Many other articles claim Vitamin D may modulate your immune system which I think is the road to go with diseases like AS.

I read posts here that some guys...(and girls!) have managed to modulate their immune so that it doesn't attack as much and would love to hear any other methods tried and tested by Kickas members.

I can't believe I am going to have it for the rest of my life, it feels unreal.

I've struggled with asthma for 30 years and now AS is going to finish me off.

Anyone else with asthma and AS? It's a killer combination.

Yes since I went NSD I have no asthma issues. Took about six months to notice the asthma improvement.

There was a poster here many years ago from India that treated his AS with a lot of vitamin D (natural and supplement).

Worked well for him.. but so long ago now cannot recall his name.

Thanks guys, everyone is so informed here impressive.

I will keep up with Vitamin D then and report back in six months.

Longer than Humira trial but I am willing to worth anything that will ease my torture.

Unfortunately whenever I try to supplement D3 I have an increase in my SI joint pain. Not sure why. I have made sure it is starch free but still have issues.

My rhuemy just mentioned testing me for vitamin d deficiency and said that even if it's not she might want me to just start a supplement. Good luck! Let us know your results!

Yes from over here. Vit-D3 plus the *recommended Vit-K2 and Magnesium.

I also take Vit-E. And Vit-C plus when all around are coughing, I 'zap it with Zinc'. Zinc and C are great for stamping on the buggles. 'A' multivite per day aint much good.

When first my levels were checked they were 9 ng/mL - scary levels. Managed to get em to 40, but if not careful, they tend to slip back - last eading was 32ng/mL Recommended levels are between 50 - 80 ng/mL. Some recommend 60 - 85. If I ever hit 60 I'll be quite pleased !

I take 4000IU per day. Liquid, Nature's Answer.

Yes. Have some lung problems. Doc said either Aspergilles or COPD. Needs checking out. Know I have some scarring on one side. And did have a very bad bout of pleurisy a few years ago. Do breathing exercises every day.

Take care -

This is pertinent to present thread -

http://www.sciencesetavenir.fr/sante/201...s-acariens.html

Is in French, but can google translate. But basically, house mites exacerbate asthma and lung problems generally. Gives recommendations on washing, removal of carpets, vacuuming etc etc. Basic stuff.

1. They are ubiquitous in our daily lives

The mites feed consisting essentially dander ( "dead skin" nail debris, hair ... ), therefore they are found where humans reside: home, work spaces and transport. They measure between 0.1 and 0.6 mm, therefore, impossible to spot with the naked eye!

HABITAT. -invisibles, therefore - colonies of several million mites nestle with a predilection in the bedroom, in the bedding, including mattresses and pillows as well as quilts and comforters. They also appreciate the armchairs, cushions and carpets. The proof in the video below, produced by the pharmaceutical company Stallergenes . (more...)

Haul the vacumn out - darn thing is so heavy an cumbersome - though do vacumn my mattress, when feeling strong that is...!!

Hi again.

I have asthma occasionally but not often enough that I get very concerned about it. My husband does. He has RA and has gotten Methotrexate lung. He has COPD. Add that all together and it is rather serious.

We both take 4000 units of D3. Mine was at a level of "7" when I started treating it. I took 50,000 units once a week until we got it in the normal range. My dr. told me to never quit taking it because most people with autoimmune problems have low D.

Hope you have a good week.

Damn, you have asthma too smirk

COPD is serious yes, sorry to hear smirk Hope he is a mild case.

AS is serious enough though in its own right other diseases pale in comparison with AS.
