Chemical tests on CSF
Here is one more link for you, specifically on the CSF Protein and CSF Glucose. None of the info on these tests gives reference ranges because these differ from lab to lab and frequently use different units from country to country. Some of the qualitative things (pos/neg) will be compared, though.

CSF Microscopic exam Check this out for types of cells/numbers seen on your results. Again, no reference ranges.

I also had a full blown sinus infection at the time this lumber puncture was taken.

My doctor feels whatever it is that I have it is a systemic illness.

Just want to know what the *beep* it is.

Thank you, Rumble.

My word I have results and results from the spinal fluid.

Albumin: 38 (reference range: 33-45 g/L)
RDW-CV: 13.0 (reference range: 11.4-14.4 %)
HB: 123 (reference range: 120-160 g/L)

Protein Electrophoresis and Immunology

Total Protein: 76 (reference 60-80 g/L)
Albumin: 40 (reference 33-45 g/L)
Monoclonal Immunoglobulin (serum content: Pattern suggests a polyclonal immunoglobulin increase.)
Immuno A: 2.75 (reference 0.7-3.8 g/L)
Immuno G: 12.44 (reference: 6.9-16.2 g/L)
Immuno M: 0.95 (reference: 0.6-2.6 g/L)

MPV: 10.8 (reference 9.4-12.4)
# Neuts: 6.5 (H) (Reference: 1.8-5.4)
# Lymphs: 2.5 (Reference: 1.3-3.2)
# Monos: 0.6 (Reference: 0.3-0.8)
# EOS: 0.1 (reference: 0.0-0.4)
# BASO: 0.0 (reference: 0.0-0.1)
# Immature Granulocytes: 0.02

I don't know what this one is:
NUCLEAR ANTIBODIES
ANA Screen - Negative

Nuclear antibody screened at 1/40 by EIA. No further testing indicated.

Can you make any sense of any of these?

Angie

Did they do serum tests parallel to the CSF tests? Did you have blood drawn the day of the LP? If so, did they do the serum protein electrophoresis?

Yes I did have blood drawn the day of the LP.

Chemistry
Protein Electrophoresis and Immunology
c-reactive protein: 10.0 (reference range: <5.0 mg/L)

Hematology
ESR: 12 (reference range: 0-15 mm/H)

Phospholipid Antibodies
Phospholipid Ab - IgG: 1 GPL unit
Phospholipid Ab - IgM: 1 MPL unit

Nuclear Antibodies
ANA Screen: Negative Negative
Nuclear Antibody screened at 1/40 by EIA. No further testing indicated.

GROSS EXAMINATION
Approximately 1.5 mLs of clear spinal fluid received in sterile vial.

SPUN GRAM
NO Polymorphs
NO organisms seen

CULTURE REPORT
No organisms isolated to date.
No growth.

Does this help, Rumble?

What I was looking for was serum electrophoresis results parallel to the ones that you listed on the CSF. Like Immuno A, G and M....only from the serum.

Also looking for a serum protein, albumin to see what the ratio mentioned above regarding the MS. (my first post, I think)

I'll have to look up the phospholipid antibodies (usually see this as anti-phospholipid, but can't remember the significance. Pretty tired and cold tonight, so I'll look at it tomorrow. You might google 'anti-phospholipid and see if it pertains to you. It's some sort of syndrome. Have no idea what GPL/MPL stands for.

Good that there were no organisms, no growth (no infectious stuff). Clear CSF is good, too. Should be crystal clear. Not a traumatic tap (no blood), know it wasn't 'not traumatic' to you, personally. I'll check back tomorrow. G'night.
