I have been nsd for about 4 weeks with pretty good results. My pain was almost gone just some minor inflammation in my shoulder blades. I had some ham on sunday and by Monday my pain levels increased alot in my mid back area. I guess there was some starch in the ham or flavoring. How long due flares typically last? Any ideas how to speed it up the flare?

It's a bummer that so many meats contain fillers ( link about fillers ).

For me, starch-induced flares generally last about one to two days. All I can do is wait it out. It's at those times I take an NSAID, such as naproxen sodium (Aleve).

AS symptoms started 1991. Official dx in 2006 with HLA-B27+, fused SIJ, bone spurs in back, extreme rib/hip pain, and other family with SpA. Started Enbrel in 2006 with good results, but stopped in 2010 due to nerve damage (MS) from it. Getting good results with no-starch diet since 2011.
