Bradford Pears are ornamental only and are very beautiful in the Spring covered with white blooms. They are an inexpensive tree that builders use a lot for landscaping and they are short-lived here in OK with our excessive wind. There are a lot of them in our town and are gorgeous but we had ours taken out because they were very messy. Even being ornamental they make a little fruit that really makes a mess. Never thought about gathering them for pies....an idea.

You know, I don't knit and Petsmart was completely out of blackbird sweaters. It is to be in the mid 70's in a few days so maybe they will be ok. I am sure the squirrels are really g teasing them though.
