If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I flared really really badly over christmas, perhaps due to all the food I was eating. It has been about 3 days and my pain levels haven't dropped at all. How do you get out of such a bad flare??
Thanks

Fast for as many days as you can, then go STRICT NO STARCH for a couple of weeks and then *maybe* you can manage with Low Starch, but seriously - YOU KNOW that YOU have got to ditch the starches, Seb !
Hope this gets your pain down soon.Remember to keep up the weight with some protein rich meals and then get baking with coconut flour or almond flour - there are PLANTY of recipes here on the forum, or go to Elana's Pantry site and get inspiration there.
I have made a ground coconut/almond meal pastry and used it for a pseudo mince pie slice - it's close enough to keep away from the Christmas starches.

Just try to remember this, it really helps me.
STARCH = definite INFLAMMATION = possible FUSION
No amount of pasta, pizza, or any other former favorite is worth that. And I'm thinking I may have to ditch dairy too, as I just cannot get my eyes under control. My pain levels are really low, and I have been sick, which is an 'always' trigger for my iritis. However, there is almond milk and coconut milk. I am learning to cook, a big adventure as I've never been very good at that!
Iritis first diagnosed in 1991, presently recurrent and steroid resistant. Tested HLA B27 positive in 1996. AS diagnosed October of 2011.
Putting most of my eggs in the NSD and exercise basket, using only TENS, massage, heat and ice, and NSAIDS (sparingly) for pain. Drops for iritis as flare necessitates. Looking back I feel I would have been diagnosed with AS years ago, if I had found a rheumy earlier than 2011.

I have literally had bad dreams about eating stuff like french fries -- "Oh no, what have I done??" But in real life I've learned never to eat anything that I know will bring on a flare, no matter how much annoyingly wonderful food coworkers eat around me. My analogy for people who have no dietary restrictions: it's as if somebody sat you down in front of a feast that had big warning labels "contaminated with salmonella, eat at your own risk". You'd have to be pretty stupid to eat it, right? It's torture to watch, but even worse to be sick for who knows how long afterwards.
