Christchurch, New Zealand (New Zealands 3rd largest city) has been hit by a huge earthquake at around lunch time today. The CBD is in complete devastation. 65 people are dead and that number is expected to rise significantly. Hundreds of people will be trapped underneath wreckage/buildings overnight. A woman was recently rescued after hanging onto a multiple story building for an hour. The prime minister said this could well be New Zealand's darkest day. What more can you say..?

I was following this on the news, Seb. I'm very sad to hear about the devastation.

Praying for your country, Seb. I read the news this morning and was incredibly moved by this tragedy. I can't imagine what the people of Christchurch are going through. It's just unbelievable.

I've been watching the news reports on this as well. Man, what is going on with our world???

I doubt the Christchurch KAers are going to have internet access any time soon, but please check in as soon as you can!!!

I'm sending white light and love.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Hi seb, I first heard about this at my lab appt. this morning, what a shock!! ...and I'm so sorry that you are having to cope with this, I know it's difficult. Deal with what you are able to and leave everything else out...being in a disaster area can be overwhelming, to say the least and people around you may not be able to cope well, I survived the hurricanes physically but I'm still dealing with the mental and emotional impact of being in a post-disaster area for such an extended period of time...one word of advice...once your family is safe and your property is secure, I would suggest you get to a more stable environment...my prayers are with you and your country... hugss

I know...it's horrid, I'm checking the FEMA Bulletin on Rescue and Recovery teams going out...Beaux and Chelsea are already scheduled, a couple of teams are already boarded and sitting on the tarmac...
