If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Came up in a recent introduction from a newby. So, rather than let DISH be lost, I thought it better to make a new post. DISH - irritating. Can make swallowing somewhat difficult, like to having a continual 'lump' in the throat. This is caused by those osteophytes (bony outcrops) sticking into one's throat. Have had DISH for a few years now, and no, can't be seen by 'looking down the throat' which is where all these medics I saw went *wrong! But, a simple MRI Saggital STIR gave the result (Sept 2010) that 'clearly' showed up the problem, DISH. It sure is annoying to have. Frequently like choke on food, sometimes DO actually choke to the point of have to spit out the food! (Unpleasant to say the leasst!) Swalowing saliva is *continually swallowing on a lump in my throat. However, for ALL those with ANY kind of swallowing problem, look to ruling out/in DISH. Molly thankyou sooooo much for bringing this up. I have had a real problem with this for a couple years and just didn't want to bring something else up to my docs at this point. I think I've gotten them to "overload" point. I will bring this up to my Rheumy next month. Cindy

Glad this all helped - yes, DSH is a right 'nuisance'. And yes, Ajit, it is to do with AS. Osteophytes growing in the cervicals, they stick out and jamm into the throat. So one feels like it is a *continual 'lump IN the throat' but of course, it is a jamming aganist the throat. Can't think 'why' alll those doctors I saw in the UK missed it, daft. Saw ENT 'consultants' (!!HA!!) like there was no tomorrow. But only NOW recognised. DISH will also give you a rasping voice, as the vocal chrds are also compromised to a degree. Dysphonia and Dysphragia = Look to DISH for the causeI do get sooooo tired of the *Continual lump, 24/7, and, sooooo tired of the choking on food. Sigh. IF really, really, bad, so bad as to totally compromise one in daily iving, I 'believe' that the osteophytes can be dealt with? But, like all osteophytes, they 'can' grow back again...!! (NOT letting anyone go near my spine though and certainly not my cervicals. No way!) A MRI Saggital STIR imaging will pick up the DISH - standard X-Rays and standard MRI will not pick it up. But very glad that this information has helped.

I have noticed that I get this in just the last year or so. I never thought to mention it to my doctor as I always have so many other more important things to talk about. Thanks for bring it up.
