If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

hi joanne! sorry to hear about your weight gain. since having AS ...symptoms since about 5-6 yrs old, back pain at about 18 and full blown about 10 yrs ago...i've lost weight the last 10 yrs. i follow a low starch diet. it helps. i also suffer from non specific colitis that i keep under control with low starch and keeping away from spicy foods and tomato sauce. my flares exhaust me. all the time, but some weeks even more than others..and my appetite changes. i get nauseated. doc said it's the pain levels shooting up. very true. and weight issue was bad for awhile trying to keep up...now tapered off. i wish i had some helpful info but you seem to know quite a bit already about carbs and all that good stuff... just wanted to offer some support! best of luck! buggy

i keep worrying that i should not talk about the way i eat because a lot of what i do eat is not in line with what Carol Sinclaire says is correct. But i am now thinking that as long as i do not eat starch it really does not matter what else in eat
As you all know ni normally eatn 70% fat, 25% protein and 5% carb. Bnut right now whilst i try to work out which carbs i normally eat contain starch, i am not eating any carbs, and frankly i feel fantastic
Anyway, right now i am eating 75% fat and 25% protein 0% carbs and mny ketosis is high. whichn i amn glad about to be honest
But i obviously am not going to be able to keep this up, because right now i am loosing 2lb per day in weight and by definition, if i nnkeep this up in 24 days i am going to be undern weight LOL.............. now that would be a first LOL
Anyway, i have the iodine. i am considering herbs, almonds and berries.
I know this is all a bit all over the place but working this out is really overwhelming. I guess i am lucky that i only eat natural food
Love joanne

All the years when i had no idea what was wrong with me and i ended up unable to walk and I had bladder trouble and breathing issues etc. And still no doctora would help me, I had to find my own cures now it was all trial and error and even up until this week i did not know about the starch but i did know it was a bacteria and i did know it had something to do with carbs, and i also know that my incredible all over pain was generating from my hip, so i new a few things but had no answers With the help of a few alter native therapists i managed to change my diet, but it was not easy and took a long time One of my natural remedy friends saw how neurotic i was about eating low carb/high fat etc and said to me. Elite atheles stay away from pasta rice and cereal. i was very surprised at this because i thought these foods were good for us so my friend showed me this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY9ceulkVzssince seeing this i have been much more confident that not eating these foods is a good idea. And now i find it easy not to eat them Love joanne

It is the same with my excercise regime. No professional ever helped me to get walking agian i had to work it out for myself More recently i found this article http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness...ng-effects.aspxBut before i new about this i would do this - I would wait until the morning slowness and rigidity eased and then i would get myself on my feet. I would hobble around the living room for 30 seconds, then no matter how good or bad i was i would sit down for one minute and a half. then i would do it again, and again , and again. this was in the days when i was very ill Each day i would try to make my 30 second journey around the room more dynamic, faster and more detern=moned but i would always sit for the one and half minutes Eventually i took my challenge into the garden. I would speed walk across the garden, up and down and them stop for one and a halpf minutes, over and over upto about 15 times. eventually i could take my dog out and i started doing it from lamp post to lamp post power walk for 30 seconds and stroll for 15 seconds when my dad was diagnosed with parkinsons i taught him the same technique which he still uses to this day. and when muy husband had a brain heamorage he adopted the same work out the secret is to listen to your body in the quiet interval. You can tell if it is working or if it is too much then I wish i could share more about this but the computer is about to cut out Anyway Dr Mercola is very helpful with this kind of thing and so much of his information is free Love Joanne

Last night I looked at the diabetes diet, and it looks a lot like the LSD. Everyone else probably knows this, but hey ~ I'm new! that''s basically what i follow. the biggest difference is that beans are excellent for those of us with insulin resistance and taboo on the NSD. they are digested very slowly and thus are good for balancing out blood sugar. and listening to this conversation, another good thing about beans is how affordable they are. and so many dishes can be made with beans: salads, dips (for veggies), soups, etc. and so many varieties to choose from. dried or canned. lots of options. if one is LSD, and not NSD........ a good source of protein as well. and if i don't eat them every day, constipation
sue
Spondyloarthropathy, HLAB27 negative Humira (still methylprednisone for flares, just not as often. Aleve if needed, rarely.) LDN/zanaflex/flector patches over SI/ice vits C, D. probiotics. hyaluronic acid. CoQ, Mg, Ca, K. chiro walk, bike no dairy (casein sensitivity), limited eggs, limited yeast (bread)

Most fresh produce doesn't have a long shelf life too, so they start to get icky in a matter of a few days, then end up getting pitched. By the way, how do you not get tired of eating the turkey soup all week long? I have some difficulty with repetitive eating. The only fresh produce I've been eating lately are romaine lettuce, celery, and chili peppers. So for now, I don't have to worry about iodine testing or trying to pawn off starchy stuff on family members. The lettuce might get icky if it lasted long enough, but I eat a LOT of it for fiber and vitamins -- one head only lasts a couple days. (Would you believe a salad made from 1/2 head romaine lettuce has 100% RDA vitamin C??) About repetitive eating: eating something that makes you feel well is pretty motivating. The turkey soup is really easy on the digestion, even with the chili pepper for a little spice. Homemade soup really is good, even when simple. I was concerned about getting sick of it, but so far it really hasn't been a problem. Probably getting sick of a food is a sign that your body needs a rest from it? When you have a bunch of food sensitivities that you aren't able to totally avoid, then rotation is the second best way to deal with it. If you start with foods that you like AND that are good for you, you might not get tired of them so easily.
