Hi,

I stayed in bed almost all day and I actually do feel a lot better.

Here's something weird, when I went to tai chi (where I could only do 30 minutes out of 60) my eye went out of control again.

There were lots of cottonwood puffs blowing around. I wonder, could allergies cause such an obnoxious reaction?

I've only had allergies for 2 years, so I'm not very good at dealing with them yet. To be honest, all the allergy meds make my heart feel like it's going to beat out of my chest ~ so I just lump it.

Allergies masquerading as MS/brain problems? Is this far fetched?

Ear ringing...hmmm... I've had ear ringing for a long time. It would come and go. I remember in 1989 when I first move to my current location I could hear the silence in the evening. Now, the ringing comes out in the silence all of the time. I've wondered if this is related to what's going on with me.

i'll just tell you about my allergies. started in my 20s, got worse over the years. finally so bad by 35, i had to take something.

before taking allergy medication, i did not get the "stereotypical" runny nose, watery eyes. instead i get internal head congestion (this pressure deep inside my head with headaches along with it), lots of congestion in my throat (hard to swallow), swollen glands, and i'd always feel like i had something in my eyes and when i'd rub them, "mucus" would ball up and i could get it out with a tissue and the eye would feel a bit better until more of this "mucus" formed. and my allergies were also making me feel sick, like i had the flu or something.

i've taken zyrtec every night for the last 12 years and no side effects at all, i just simply feel like a person without allergies.

the commercial says "for indoor as well as outdoor allergies" and i am a great example of that. really helps with all my allergies.

i still can't be around perfumes, some chemicals, but really, what a difference zyrtec makes.

and i had side effects to a lot of other "allergy" or sinus meds. pseudofed (pseudoepinephrine) made my heart race and made me wired like you wouldn't believe. allegra made my nose run, and i mean run, like some giant dam had burst! it was quite impressive! and rather funny at the same time. but zyrtec, no side effects.

hope a lot of your symptoms are "just allergies" as that might be easier to fix and a lot less scary than something like MS.

good luck!

Ok Sue! I'm trying Zyrtec because of your experience. I've tried benadryl, loratadine, and something esle that wasn't zyrtec. Thanks!

let me know if zyrtec works any better for you. they say it may cause drowsiness but i've never noticed anything, though usually take it at bedtime where that would be ok, but even when i take it in the morning, its still ok.

hope you get some relief soon,

We have experimented alot at our house with the advice on doctoryourself.com and there he recommends copious ammounts of vitamin C to squelch allergies (and many other ailments too.)

We also have cottonwood puff season going on (Idaho) and my poor son is suffering with allergies. Besides vit. C, I make him shower and change his clothes and the sneezing stops cold. So his is definitely an outdoor allergy thing.

good luck!

Hi Erica,
I've been dealing with nausea/vomiting, fatigue, vertigo, numbness in my legs, hair loss for 3 years. For the past year, it's been insane neuropathic leg pain, and eye pain/photophobia. No causes found, so it's so far just considered all in my head. I've never had an MRI or any investigations like that though.

I'm seeing an internist in July though, so hopefully that will help.

I think that these autoimmune disease goodied tend to pop up in other areas of the body though. Such fun, hey?

I hope you get a dx soon and get it treated though. I hope it's not MS you're dealing with. I'll be thinkin about ya.
many hugs

Thanks:) I'll definitely try vitamic C. NSAIDS are not my friends either, and I'm trying the LSD as well.

Well I don't see how vomiting could be all in your head. I ignored my symptoms for most of my life, but after asking around I have learned that the majority of people are not in constant physical distress! Hopefully the internist will be of help to you.
